Artificial Intelligence in infrastructure development, China is moving fast

Artificial Intelligence or robot machines are growing rapidly and made notable contributions to diverse sectors. Automation of AI in communication, media & entertainment, healthcare, education, transportation, etc a differentiated experience is evident in these areas. 

China is acknowledged as a fast-growing country in the world. The citizens in China adapt, adopt, and discover new trends in technologies. China is making attempts to become the first global superpower for Artificial Intelligence. China made huge capital investments toward the development of infrastructure. This is only due to sustained economic growth and increased competition. 

China is an appropriate example of using automated robot rollers in the construction of a highway. The country has the world’s largest highway system. The contractors of China have decided to build the Panzhihua-Dali highway between Sichuan and Dali provinces. The construction site consists of unmanned road pavers and rollers. 

Xuzhou Construction Machinery Group invented these machines. The machines are created with installed features like GPS positioning systems, microwave communications, and other sensing types of equipment. 

China’s ministry of transport announced a guideline to boost the road-building systems with 5G communications, high precision positioning, and computing power. The objective is to save costs and increase productivity. As per the reports of the state news agency, the machines are connected to a monitoring data centre so that the instructions can be sent and coordinate the work of multiple vehicles.

Panzhihua-Dali highway is the mega project work of China’s intelligent transportation construction. The research team from Tsinghua University developed an intelligent brain to focus on the construction project. With the help of it, the technologies can realize the unmanned operations under complex working conditions. Consequently, it improves construction quality and saves operational costs. 

With the elimination of human influence, intelligent machines are designed with numerous features including automatic early warning, emergency stop, and autonomous obstacle avoidance. The construction network has transformed into smart transportation construction with the successful application of unmanned highway construction machinery. China made fixed asset investments in highways and waterways in the first 10 months of 2019. 

Currently, during the time of COVID-19 AI has been playing a great role and proving itself of the possible benefits. Now AI is also contributing to the infrastructure sector. Post COVID-19 China will accelerate the application of advanced technologies in road construction projects and road network management.
