National, January 20, 2026: In the Northeast states of India, colour is part of everyday expression; seen in handwoven textiles, painted prayer houses, festive attire, and the surrounding landscape. From the deep reds and blacks of traditional motifs to the soft earth tones drawn from hills, forests, and rivers, these hues carry meaning, memory, and identity. Inspired by this deep-rooted connection with colour, Asian Paints has launched the ‘Northeast Book of Colours’, a thoughtfully curated shade guide created exclusively for the region. Rooted in local stories and cultural heritage, it helps homeowners express themselves through colours that feel familiar, relevant, and truly their own.
Anchored in the theme Inspired by You, Crafted for You, the shade book is born from the stories, shades, and spirit of the Northeast. It celebrates the region’s cultural diversity through palettes inspired by the Northeastern states, along with subtle influences from neighbouring cultures. Together, they offer a rich and meaningful canvas of ideas for homes across the region. With over 80 curated shade combinations, the book also features mood boards, design inspirations, and a selection of the most loved shades across states — making it both a practical resource and a deeply local source of inspiration for consumers.
Each palette in the book reflects the distinct character of the region’s cultural symbols and crafts. From the bold black of Longpi pottery in Manipur, to the understated elegance of the white-and-red Gamosa from Assam, and the vibrancy of Tripura’s red, black and green Rignai, every reference captures a unique colour story. Together, they create a rich spectrum of combinations that lend depth, warmth, and visual character to living spaces.
Speaking on the launch of the shade guide, Amit Syngle, MD & CEO, Asian Paints Ltd., said, “At Asian Paints, we have always believed that colour is one of the most powerful expressions of identity—it reflects who we are, where we come from, and the stories we choose to live with every day. The Northeast Book of Colours is our tribute to a region that is exceptionally rich in culture, craft, and character. As India’s colour authority, we are committed not only to offer beautiful shades, but also to lead through inspiration around how colour can shape spaces, emotions, and everyday living. With this book, we are bringing together the Northeast’s most loved palettes and cultural influences into a curated guide that is truly inspired by and crafted for the people, homes, and communities of the region.”
To bring the collection to life, the brand has also launched a film showcasing the inspiration and shades from the Northeast Book of Colours.

The Northeast edition of the Book of Colours was launched at a flagship event yesterday at Radisson, Guwahati. The showcase brought indigenous art, textiles, and natural hues to life, translating the spirit of the Northeast into colours for contemporary homes.
