August 2026: What if Rakhi was never really about who you’re related to, but about who’s always got your back?
This Raksha Bandhan, Banana Club brought this thought to life with “Bonds That Matter” a campaign celebrating the people who protect, support and stand by us, whether they are family or not.
The campaign takes a refreshingly simple view of Raksha Bandhan: protection doesn’t come with a relationship label. It can be your best friend who shows up every time, a colleague who has your back, a partner who stands beside you, or even someone who quietly makes your everyday life a little safer and easier.
As part of the campaign, Banana Club shared specially created Rakhi cards featuring a thread of love and protection. The idea was to give people the freedom to decide what and who the thread means to them. It could be tied to someone who protects you, or even to a bike, bag or personal belonging that carries a special meaning.
Through its in-store activation, Banana Club invited customers and visitors to celebrate their own “bonds that matter”, moving beyond the conventional brother-sister narrative associated with Raksha Bandhan.
The campaign was further brought to life through a digital film that captured the spirit of these unconventional yet deeply meaningful connections, encouraging people to pause and think about the people who have always been there for them.
At its heart, “Bonds That Matter” is a reminder that some of the most important relationships in our lives don’t always fit neatly into a family tree. Sometimes, they’re simply the people who show up, look out for us and have our back.
With this campaign, Banana Club turns the traditional Rakhi into something more universal a small thread carrying a much bigger message: celebrate the people who protect you, whoever they may be.
