Birla Opus Paints Captures the Spirit of Togetherness this Onam

The film explores how shared traditions continue to bring communities closer

Mumbai, 5th August 2026: Birla Opus Paints, housed under Aditya Birla Group’s Grasim Industries, announced the launch of its new Onam campaign, celebrating Kerala’s rich cultural heritage through a heartwarming story of community, togetherness and shared traditions. The film leverages the making of Pookalam, the beauty of which lies in flowers of multiple colours coming together, similarly Onam becomes joyous and beautiful when communities celebrate it together.

Set in Kerela, the film follows a young woman preparing her newly painted home for Onam with her grandmother (Ammamma). As she fondly recalls the grand community ‘Pookalams’ from her childhood, her memories inspire the young woman to recreate the same spirit of togetherness in her society. What begins as a simple gesture to make her grandmother happy, gradually brings the community together to transform a forgotten courtyard as the heart of the Onam celebrations. This culminates in a moving moment as the grandmother witnesses an entire community united for Onam celebration.

The film is a tribute to the traditions of Onam and reinforces the core message i.e. ‘Many Colours Make a Pookalam, Many Hearts Make an Onam’.  Inspired by the ‘Pookalam’ and the communities it has united for generations, the campaign reflects Birla Opus Paints’ belief that while colours transform spaces, it is the people who create a sense of warmth, belonging and lasting memories within them.

Inderpreet Singh, Head of Marketing, Birla Opus Paints, said, “Onam is a celebration of togetherness, gratitude and new beginnings. This campaign highlights how culture, community and camaraderie, play a pivotal role in making festivals more joyous. The film reflects our belief that colours have the power not only to transform spaces, but also to bring people closer, creating memories and connections that last long after the celebrations are over.”

Sachin Kamble, Chief Creative Officer, Leo South Asia, said, “At Birla Opus, the belief is that the spaces we create are ultimately brought to life by the people who live in them. That thought became the inspiration for this film. The pookalam isn’t just a beautiful symbol of Onam, it’s a tradition that brings people together. Through this story, we wanted to celebrate the idea that while colours and flowers create the backdrop, it’s the shared moments and relationships that truly make a place feel like home.”
