Borivali SOCIAL Opens at Sky City, Celebrating the ‘Last Stop to Many Starts’

MUMBAI, 29th October 2026:  SOCIAL has opened its newest outpost at Sky City Mall, Borivali, finding its place in a part of Mumbai often known as the city’s “last stop” on the suburban train line, a familiar reference that has shaped how Borivali has been perceived for years. But beyond that railway shorthand lies a neighbourhood where countless journeys, communities and stories begin. Built around the thought “the last stop to many starts,” Borivali SOCIAL looks at the suburb beyond its place on the railway map, as a neighbourhood made up of distinct communities, histories and cultures that have continued to grow alongside one another.

Borivali has always carried its contradictions comfortably. Railway tracks give way to forest trails, ancient Buddhist caves exist alongside glass towers, and old villages continue to live between newer developments. From Eksar, Poisar and Vazira to Shimpoli and Magathane, every pocket carries its own identity, its own shortcuts, familiar landmarks and local stories. Together, they form a suburb that may sit towards the edge of Mumbai on a map, but has never really behaved like one.

It is this idea that sits at the heart of Borivali SOCIAL. Rather than looking at the neighbourhood through a single lens, the new space takes its cue from the many worlds that make Borivali what it is: its proximity to the forest, its relationship with the coast and jetties, its East Indian roots, Gujarati influences, old settlements and an ever-changing urban landscape. Different histories and ways of life meet here, often within the same pin code, creating the kind of neighbourhood character that SOCIAL has always found its home in.

Speaking about the opening, Riyaaz Amlani, Founder & Managing Director, Impresario Entertainment & Hospitality Pvt. Ltd., said, “At SOCIAL, growth has never been about simply adding another pin to the map. It has always been about understanding what makes a neighbourhood distinct and creating a space that can genuinely become part of its everyday rhythm. Borivali is one of Mumbai’s most layered neighbourhoods, where different communities, histories and ways of life have grown alongside each other for generations. Borivali SOCIAL is our way of becoming part of that story, while creating a new space for the people and communities who will shape what comes next.”

The interiors of Borivali SOCIAL build on the idea of ‘Preserving What We Might Forget’, inspired by the Svalbard Global Seed Vault and Borivali’s unique relationship with Sanjay Gandhi National Park. Imagined as a playful archive of the natural world that exists alongside the neighbourhood, the space brings together botanical impressions, preserved specimens reinterpreted as art, archival drawers documenting Borivali’s butterflies, X-ray-inspired tables and an interactive digital forest installation. These elements move between observation and imagination, preserving not the species themselves, but the stories, forms and ecological connections that can often go unnoticed as the city changes around them. The result is a space that turns Borivali’s natural heritage into something to discover, interact with and remember.

The menu at Borivali SOCIAL brings together much-loved favourites such as Fully Re-loaded Nachos, Bombay Bhelpuri Salad, Paneer Makhani Biryani, China Box and more, alongside a selection of coffee, mocktails and matcha for easy daytime catch-ups, quick breaks and longer conversations over a meal.

As the day moves into evening, SOCIAL’s signature cocktails take over, with favourites such as the Banarasi Patiala, LLIIT and Grenade adding to the mix. Together, the food, coffee, and cocktails shape a space that moves easily through the day, from casual meet-ups and shared meals to evenings spent over drinks and conversation.

With Borivali SOCIAL, the neighbourhood’s many contrasts come together in a space built around food, culture, community and connection. From the local stories that inspire the space to the people who will make it their own, the new outpost reflects Borivali as it is today: rooted in its histories, shaped by many communities and constantly evolving. For a neighbourhood long known as the city’s last stop, Borivali SOCIAL marks a new place to meet, belong and begin again.
