According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, all States and Union Territories have been advised to strengthen disease surveillance, vector control, community awareness, and healthcare preparedness. Under the same scenario, hospitals devise means to ensure adequate availability of beds, medicines, diagnostics, blood components, and trained healthcare personnel to effectively manage any surge in cases that may arise.

- Inspect your home and surroundings regularly and remove stagnant water from coolers, buckets, flowerpots, tyres, overhead tanks and other containers where mosquitoes can breed
- Use mosquito repellents, wear full-sleeved clothing and install mosquito screens or mosquito nets, particularly for children, senior citizens, pregnant women and individuals with underlying health conditions
- Seek medical attention if you experience persistent fever, severe headache, body ache, fatigue or other symptoms associated with mosquito-borne diseases. Avoid self-medication and complete the prescribed course of treatment
- Maintain adequate hydration and follow your doctor’s recommendations throughout the recovery period to support faster healing and minimise complications
- Review your health insurance coverage regularly to help reduce financial burden arising from medical treatment and hospital care.
