As enterprises move beyond AI assistants to autonomous systems capable of reasoning, planning, and acting independently, Agentic AI is rapidly becoming a strategic priority. According to Business Standard, 48% of Indian IT leaders now rank Agentic AI among their top AI priorities, while Gartner estimates that 33% of enterprise software applications will incorporate Agentic AI capabilities by 2028. The challenge, however, is no longer awareness but execution. Organisations increasingly need professionals who can architect, deploy, and govern autonomous AI systems at scale, even as India faces a 38–42% talent gap in specialised AI roles. Existing professional education offerings remain largely focused on GenAI concepts and prototypes, leaving a growing gap between enterprise requirements and workforce readiness.
To address this emerging capability gap, the Continuing Education Programme (CEP), IIT Delhi, organised by the Centre for Sensors, Instrumentation and Cyber-Physical System Engineering (SeNSE), has announced admissions for the Advanced Certificate in Agentic AI, a six-month, 100% live online programme beginning on 26 September 2026. Designed for engineering professionals, product leaders, and technology decision makers, the programme helps participants progress from AI concepts to building production-ready autonomous systems.
Participants will develop expertise in:
- Foundations of Agentic AI and autonomous system design
- Large Language Models (LLMs) as reasoning engines
- Multi-agent architecture design and orchestration
- Model Context Protocols (MCP), Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), and long-term memory
- Governance frameworks and responsible autonomy
The learning experience includes:
- Hands-on exposure to tools such as LangChain, AutoGen, CrewAI, n8n, Flowise, and Docker
- Four module-end projects and an enterprise capstone
- 100% live online instruction by IIT Delhi faculty
- Institutionally assessed and graded coursework
The programme is intended for:
- Engineering professionals seeking to move into AI system architecture • Product and innovation leaders driving Agentic AI initiatives
- Technology decision-makers evaluating enterprise AI adoption
“As Agentic AI transitions from experimentation to enterprise deployment, organisations increasingly require professionals who can build reliable, scalable, and governable autonomous systems. The need today is not simply to understand AI, but to engineer systems that can reason, coordinate, and act in real-world environments. This programme has been designed to equip professionals with the technical depth and practical experience required to bridge that gap,” said Prof. Santhosh Sivasubramani, Programme Coordinator and Faculty, IIT Delhi Centre for Sensors, Instrumentation and Cyber-Physical System Engineering (SeNSE).
The demand for such capabilities continues to accelerate. LinkedIn’s Labour Market Update reported 59.5% year-on-year growth in AI engineering hiring in India, while industry data indicates a rise in Agentic AI-related job postings and premium compensation for specialised talent. As organisations across technology, BFSI, and enterprise software move from AI experimentation to deployment, the ability to build and operationalise autonomous systems is becoming a critical organisational capability.
The Advanced Certificate in Agentic AI reflects CEP, IIT Delhi’s effort to equip professionals with these emerging skills while helping organisations strengthen their readiness for the next phase of AI adoption.
