New Delhi | 3rd November 2026: Chef and entrepreneur Deepak Purohit, founder of Delhi-based 36 Lebzelter Bakery, has authored his debut book, Theek Hoon, which explores the way people express, or often conceal, their emotions in everyday conversations.
The book takes its starting point from the commonly used phrase “Theek hoon”, a response people often give when asked how they are, regardless of what they may actually be experiencing. Through personal reflections, observations and storytelling, Purohit examines themes of emotional struggles, self-doubt, resilience and the tendency to keep difficult feelings to oneself.
Purohit, who is primarily known for his work in the hospitality industry, has described writing as a personal interest. With this book, he turns his attention from food and entrepreneurship to human emotions and the ways people deal with personal experiences.
Rather than following a conventional self-help format, Theek Hoon presents reflections on situations that many readers may recognise from their own lives. It looks at why people sometimes find it difficult to speak openly about what they are going through and how social expectations can influence the way they communicate their feelings.
Speaking about the book, Deepak Purohit said, “We all say ‘Theek Hoon’ at some point, even when things may not be okay. I wanted to explore that space between what we say and what we actually feel. These are experiences many people go through but don’t always talk about.”
The book addresses everyday language around emotional well-being and the experiences that often remain unspoken.
