The agreement will see Disney Star broadcast all international matches as well as the KFC Big Bash League and Weber Women’s Big Bash League into the biggest cricket market in the globe starting in 2023–2024.

Sony, who has owned the Australian rights since the 2017–18 season, will be replaced by Disney Star.

‘We are excited to announce this new partnership with Disney Star starting in the 2023–2024 season. Nick Hockley, CEO of Cricket Australia, stated in a statement  ‘

We are excited to collaborate with Disney Star to promote the excellent cricket played in Australia every summer because they are “synonymous with the game in India.” The significance of this association is evidence of the long-standing competition and respect between Australian and Indian teams, the excitement and appeal of WBBL and BBL, and the high regard held by Indians and other international markets for Australian cricket. There was a lot of interest in our rights, and we are very appreciative of our current rights-holder Sony for their continued relationship with us this season.

In June, Disney Star also secured the TV broadcast rights for the next five seasons of the Indian Premier League, a deal that set them back just over $3 billion USD.

According to Disney Star’s Head of Sports, Sanjog Gupta, “Cricket Australia represents some of the best content that the cricket world has to offer, be it the standard of cricket played, the popularity of Aussie Cricketers, the rivalries and narratives, or the context of playing in front of expressive crowds and in challenging conditions.”

Millions of Indian cricket fans have been delighted by Disney Star by watching key matches on our conventional and digital networks.
