If you’ve spent time in Chennai, you’ve seen them.
Yellow autos weaving through traffic, kuthu beats playing, and auto annas who seem to know every shortcut in the city.
They’re more than a way to get around. These iconic autos are a part of what makes Chennai, Chennai.
So, for Colonel Sanders’ birthday, KFC took the celebrations out of its restaurants and onto the streets.
This week, Chennaites did a double take as a familiar yellow auto looked like it had somewhere special to be. Decked out in red & white, complete with birthday lights, decorations, and of course a party hat, it was quite literally a birthday party on wheels.
And riding shotgun? None other than Colonel Sanders himself.
Or, as Chennai prefers to call him, Colonel Anna Sanders.
Sporting a checkered lungi, his signature jacket & bow tie, and a pair of statement sunglasses, Colonel was spotted cruising through the city, inviting chicken lovers to his birthday bash at KFC Anna Nagar.
It didn’t take long for the auto wearing a party hat to become a head-turner. Curious double takes turned into phone cameras as Chennaites stopped to capture the city’s most iconic ride get an even more iconic makeover.
The birthday ride eventually pulled up into KFC Anna Nagar, where fans joined the celebrations, grabbed KFC’s Buy 1, Get 1 Crispy Chicken Bucket offer & walked away with the hottest accessory of the season, the KFC Bucket Hat.
When it comes to Colonel Sanders’ birthday, Chennai understood the assignment.
