India, July 23 2025: Created by writing duo Harry & Jack Williams, The Assassin starring Keeley Hawes (Scoop, Miss Austen) and Freddie Highmore (The Good Doctor, Bates Motel) will premiere on BBC Player India on 1st August. Presented by All3Media, the six-part series is produced by award-winning production company Two Brothers Pictures (The Tourist, Boat Story, Fleabag) in association with ZDF who is the German co- production partner, All3Media International, and Stan in Australia.
The show’s premiere announced alongside the trailer reveals a dramatic tale of a retired assassin Julie (Keeley Hawes) and her estranged son Edward (Freddie Highmore) amidst high-stake drama and thrilling action as they are forced to flee an idyllic Greek island when Julie’s dangerous past catches up with her. With questions around Edward’s paternity and Julie’s past life as a hitwoman, the pair go on the run across Europe, working together in a fight for survival.
Along the way, their dysfunctional relationship is tested to its limits. They uncover a dark conspiracy they believe to be their only threat, but a greater danger emerges that could destroy their relationship entirely. In a race against time, Julie fights to save Edward and salvage their relationship as past and present collide in a showdown across the globe…
With its gripping storyline, globe-trotting action, and powerhouse performances by Keeley Hawes and Freddie Highmore, The Assassin is set to be a must-watch for fans of premium drama.
