Freedom Healthy Cooking Oils Welcomes Government Notification on Standard Pack Sizes for Edible Oils

Freedom acknowledges government move as a step towards greater transparency and consumer empowerment in edible oils

Hyderabad: 10th June 2026: Freedom Healthy Cooking Oils welcomes the Government of India’s notification on standardised pack sizes for edible oils and expresses sincere appreciation for this progressive and consumer friendly step aimed at enhancing transparency, uniformity, and ease of price comparison in the category. This move will help bring greater clarity for consumers, improve consistency in packaging practices, and support more informed purchase decisions across the edible oil segment. It adds that the notification issued by the Department of Consumer Affairs under the Legal Metrology framework, which standardises pack sizes including 200 ml/g, 500 ml/g, 1 litre/kg, 2 litre/kg, 3 litre/kg, 4 litre/kg, 5 litre/kg, 15 litre/kg, and 20 litre/kg with a transition period for compliance, is a timely reform that strengthens transparency, fairness, and consumer protection in the category.

Freedom Healthy Cooking Oils has been the first brand to highlight the issue of pack size clarity and consumer awareness in the edible oil category. The company has consistently worked to draw attention to the importance of clear and standardised packaging practices, especially in a category where pack perception directly influences consumer buying decisions. It has focused on strengthening consumer understanding, reducing confusion at the point of purchase, and encouraging more informed and value conscious choices among households, thereby contributing to greater accountability and transparency within the broader edible oil ecosystem.

Freedom Healthy Cooking Oils highlights its continued consumer awareness efforts through initiatives such as the ‘Pack Review System (PRS)’,Chuna Laga’, and ‘Dhyan Se Lijiye’ campaigns. These initiatives have encouraged consumers to carefully check pack quantity, verify labelling accuracy, and assess value before making purchase decisions. They have also promoted practical buying habits such as checking net weight, comparing unit pricing, and ensuring clarity in pack communication, helping households make more informed and confident choices at the point of sale.

Speaking on the occassion, Mr. P. Chandra Shekhara Reddy, Senior Vice President – Sales and Marketing, Freedom Healthy Cooking Oils: “We sincerely thank the Government of India for introducing the notification on standard pack sizes for edible oils.
