Hindustan Zinc Drives Nationwide Action Against Corrosion with ‘Zung Ke Khilaaf Zinc’ 2026 Campaign

High-impact outreach, consumer engagement, and digital initiatives mark a shift from awareness to action

Udaipur, April 30, 2026: Building on the momentum of its successful 2025 awareness initiative, Hindustan Zinc Limited (HZL), India’s only and the world’s largest integrated zinc producer, has scaled up its flagship #ZungKeKhilaafZinc campaign in 2026 driving a nationwide shift from awareness to action against corrosion.

Anchored around Corrosion Awareness Day, this year’s campaign brings corrosion into sharp public focus, reframing it from a distant industrial issue to an everyday concern that impacts vehicles, homes, and critical infrastructure across India. With corrosion estimated to cost economies up to nearly 5% of GDP, the initiative highlights the urgent need for preventive solutions in a country where heat, humidity, and pollution accelerate rusting.

Building on the success of its 2025 edition, Hindustan Zinc is expanding the campaign’s scale through a multi-platform, pan-India outreach. A key highlight is the launch of a dedicated Zinc Galvanization Information Hub on hzlindia.com, designed as a central resource for consumers, industry stakeholders, and policymakers. The platform simplifies the science of corrosion and highlights zinc galvanization as a durable, cost-effective solution to extend asset life.

A key highlight of the 2026 initiative is the launch of a dedicated Zinc Galvanization information hub on hzlindia.com, positioned as a central destination for consumers, industry stakeholders, and policymakers. The platform offers easy-to-understand resources on corrosion, its real-life impact, and how zinc galvanization serves as a simple, durable, and cost-effective solution to extend the life of assets.

To drive widespread engagement, the campaign was rolled out across multiple high-impact touchpoints. A three-day prime-time radio blitz across Mumbai and Delhi around April 24 featured a specially curated jingle targeting car owners, highlighting how corrosion silently damages vehicles and how zinc protection can significantly extend their lifespan. This was complemented by a robust digital media push showcasing zinc’s role in safeguarding everyday and critical assets, from automobiles and household fittings to railways, transmission poles, and large-scale infrastructure.

Taking the conversation closer to consumers, the campaign features an on-ground vox pop series in Mumbai, capturing real perceptions around rust and uncovering awareness gaps. The insights reinforce the need to position corrosion as a preventable, everyday issue rather than a distant industrial concern.

Commenting on the initiative, Arun Misra, said, “Corrosion is often seen as an industrial issue, but in reality, it affects every individual, whether through the vehicles we drive, the homes we live in, or the infrastructure we rely on daily. With #ZungKeKhilaafZinc, our effort is to move beyond awareness and inspire action by making people more conscious of the long-term impact of corrosion and the simple steps that can prevent it. Zinc galvanization is a proven, cost-effective solution that can significantly enhance the durability of assets, and through this campaign, we aim to make that knowledge accessible and actionable for all.”

Notably, the campaign is already sparking widespread conversations across consumers, policymakers, and industry stakeholders, with strong on-ground and digital traction, accelerating awareness at scale and building momentum towards integrating corrosion prevention and zinc galvanization into everyday choices, policy frameworks, industry standards, and long-term infrastructure planning across the country.

By placing corrosion in the context of everyday life – whether it is a rusting car reducing resale value, weakened household fixtures posing safety risks, or deteriorating infrastructure impacting communities, the campaign makes the issue more relatable and actionable.

Zinc galvanization remains one of the most effective methods globally to combat corrosion, significantly extending the lifespan of steel while reducing long-term maintenance costs. Through #ZungKeKhilaafZinc 2026, Hindustan Zinc reinforces its commitment to driving awareness-led action at scale, supporting resilient infrastructure, informed consumer choices, and a more sustainable future.
