Delhi NCR, 16 June 2025: Amazon India is reinforcing its long-standing commitment to associate wellbeing by ensuring safe, climate-conscious operations both inside its buildings and on the road. The company’s operations network is geared not just for scale and speed—but also for supporting associate wellbeing and comfort. During a facility walkthrough at Amazon’s DEL5 Fulfilment Centre in Haryana, the company showcased its operational infrastructure designed to create safer, more resilient workplaces—from real-time heat index monitoring systems to air-conditioned rest points for delivery associates.
“We’re constantly upgrading our fulfilment infrastructure to raise the bar on employee and associate experience and operational excellence,” said Salim R Memon, Director – Operations, Amazon India. “Our buildings are designed to deliver on both speed and safety—ensuring a high-performance environment that supports our teams every day.”
Creating a Comfortable, Safe Working Environment at Fulfilment Centres
Amazon’s fulfilment and sortation centres are designed with associate safety and comfort as a core operational priority. All buildings are climate-controlled to help maintain a stable and comfortable working environment regardless of external conditions. A real-time heat index monitoring system enables site leaders to adapt operations—including shift schedules and break timings—in response to temperature fluctuations. Associates also have access to cold water stations, electrolyte supplements, structured rest breaks, ergonomic infrastructure, modern rest areas, and on-site medical units staffed with trained professionals (AMCARE) to ensure a safe and supportive work environment throughout the year.
Safe and Supportive Infrastructure for Delivery Associates on the Road
For delivery associates on the move, Amazon’s Project Ashray continues to provide essential roadside support through fully air-conditioned rest points. These spaces are equipped with clean washrooms, mobile charging stations, hydration facilities, shaded waiting areas, and first-aid supportto delivery associates across the e-commerce and logistics ecosystem. As of 2025, the initiative has been expanded to 100 locations across India. To further prioritise associate safety, Amazon also uses smart routing technology to optimise delivery paths based on weather and traffic, helping reduce exposure to extreme heat. Additionally, the company offers no-cost emergency ambulance support via Dial 4242, providing both basic and advanced life support to ensure rapid response in emergencies.
Ongoing Investments in Associate Health and Wellbeing
Beyond physical infrastructure, Amazon India continues to strengthen its associate-first approach through wellness and support programs. The company aims to provide free health check-ups to over 80,000 delivery associates and partners by the end of 2025. These initiatives underscore Amazon’s broader commitment to creating a resilient and inclusive workforce through thoughtful, people-centric investments.
