The famous slogan “Because you’re worth it” from L’Oreal Paris turned 50 years old last year. We did some research and found the first time the phrase “Because I’m worth it” was said in front of an audience. It’s hard to believe that this phrase was 50 years ahead of its time, but it was. Inspiring.. is it not? This was the first global ad by L’Oréal Paris, which came out in 1973. In it, a confident Joane Dusseau walks with the camera and talks about her hair colour preferences and reviews of L’Oréal Paris hair colour. At the end of the ad, she says, “Because I’m worth it,” which quickly becomes the brand’s most famous slogan. In the 1980s, L’Oréal changed its slogan from “Because I’m worth it” to “You’re worth it.” By doing this, the brand sent a clearer message of women helping and supporting each other. Well, L’Oréal Paris is one brand that has always gone above and beyond with its ads and campaigns. L’Oréal’s campaigns are both modern and heartwarming. The brand has always tried to make women feel good about their bodies, skin colours, and shapes. In 2019, L’Oréal Paris teamed up with Courtney Cox to send out a strong message: “Women who want more from life, women who want more life in their colour.” In the brand’s other powerful campaign, there were pregnant women, older women, women with hijabs, and men and women of all sizes and skin tones. This showed what it means to be inclusive and diverse. “Everyone is worth it,” yes, that’s what the brand says, but it also makes sure that each of its campaigns makes that point clear. Stand up against Street Harassment is a training program that was created by the brand in partnership with the non-profit organization Breakthrough. This came out in India in the year 2020. The ad that was made to support this project was beautiful and had that special something that all L’Oréal ads have. The brand says that the goal of this initiative is to give women more power, which is something the brand has always supported. The program got a huge response all over the world, but especially in India. L’Oréal Paris is a brand that has always stood out through its campaigns, and we all praise it for thinking outside the box and giving each campaign a sense of purpose.
