ISPL Season 2 – Chennai Singams end Srinagar Ke Veer’s winning run

Bengaluru, January 30, 2025: Chennai Singams rode a power-packed batting performance to outclass Srinagar Ke Veer by 18 runs in a high-scoring India Street Premier League (ISPL) Season 2 encounter at the Dadoji Kondadev Stadium in Thane on Thursday evening.

Ketan Mhatre starred with the bat for the Singams, top scoring with 37 runs from 21 deliveries with three boundaries and a couple of towering sixes as Srinagar, who elected to bowl first after winning the toss, saw their decision backfire in spectacular fashion.

Ketan and Sumeet Dhekale hammered the Srinagar bowling with their power-packed batting as Chennai Singams piled on a massive total of 107/5 in their 10 overs.

The Singams enjoyed an excellent start to their innings as Mhatre led the early onslaught with fellow opener Jagannath Sarkar playing the perfect supporting role from the other end.

Sahil Longale achieved the first breakthrough for Srinagar when Sarkar attempted a high-risk shot.

However, that turned out to be only a brief respite as Dhekale joined Mhatre in the middle and the duo proceeded to hammer the Srinagar bowling from both ends.

Pacer Manish Waghmare finally brought an end to the partnership and dealt a double blow to the Singams when he got rid off both Mhatre and Dhekale in the ninth over, both of whom were dismissed while attempting to hit high scoring shots. Dhekale scored 24 off 16 balls. Venkatachalapathi Vignesh then proceeded to produce some late fireworks for the Singams with 14 runs from five deliveries to pile on the misery for Srinagar.

In reply, the Srinagar batters mounted a brave attempt to chase the daunting target, but the sheer weight of the ever mounting required run rate proved too much for them.

Sagar Ali (25 from 19), Akash Tarekar (18 off 13) and Sanskar Dhyani (22 off 9) chipped in with useful contributions for Srinagar, but their efforts went in vain as the the team from the north finished their essay at 89/4.

In the other match of the night, Falcon Risers Hyderabad will face Tiigers of Kolkata. All matches are LIVE on Star Sports 1 (TV) and Disney+ Hotstar (OTT).
