JioStar Complaint Leads to Arrest of Maya IPTV Operator Following Raids in Delhi and Haryana

Delhi, 6th Nov 2026: In its continued enforcement drive against digital piracy, Delhi Police have arrested an individual allegedly involved in the distribution of Maya IPTV, an unauthorized IPTV service used to illegally distribute copyrighted television channels and video-on-demand content belonging to JioStar and other content owners.

Pursuant to the complaint and evidence submitted by JioStar, FIR dated 29 May 2026 was registered at Police Station Crime Branch, Delhi, under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, the Copyright Act, 1957, and the Information Technology Act, 2000. The FIR records allegations of unauthorized streaming and commercial distribution of copyrighted content through the Maya TV application.

Acting on the findings of the investigation, Delhi Police conducted enforcement operations on 4 November 2026 at two locations in Bahadurgarh, Haryana, and Rajouri Garden, Delhi. During the operation, police arrested the accused, who was allegedly involved in distributing Maya IPTV subscriptions to end users as a reseller. Authorities also seized a mobile phone allegedly used to operate the application and facilitate the distribution of subscriptions.

The investigation further indicates that the accused had been involved in these activities for approximately two years, operating Maya IPTV alongside two other applications through subscription-based distribution on a commission basis. The FIR records that Maya TV was distributed through an APK application and provided access to approximately 4,450+ television channels, including channels carrying live sports content, without authorization.

Following the enforcement action, the Maya IPTV application is currently non-operational. The accused remains under arrest as police continue investigating the wider distribution network and identifying other individuals potentially involved in the operation.

The development reflects JioStar’s continued commitment to protecting its intellectual property and premium content through sustained anti-piracy initiatives and close collaboration with law enforcement agencies. It also underscores the importance of pursuing distribution networks and resellers facilitating unauthorized access to copyrighted content.
