Thane, 30th September 2026 – Korum Mall, in association with the Thane District Chess Association (TDCA), successfully hosted the 5th Pinnacle FIDE Rated Rapid Chess Tournament on 27th September 2026. Organised by Pinnacle Chess Events, the tournament witnessed an impressive participation of 428 players from across India, including 27 titled players, making it a highly competitive edition of the tournament.
The presence of 11 International Masters (IMs), 2 Woman International Masters (WIMs), 7 FIDE Masters (FMs), 6 Candidate Masters (CMs) and 1 Woman Candidate Master (WCM) added to the competitive intensity of the tournament. The diverse field brought together experienced players and emerging chess talent, offering spectators and participants an engaging display of strategic thinking, precision and quick decision-making.
Following a day of intense rapid-format competition, IM Nikhil Dixit emerged as the winner of the tournament, securing the first place. IM Suyog Wagh finished second, while IM Anuj Shrivatri secured third place.
The fifth edition further strengthened the tournament’s position as a platform for competitive chess in Thane, bringing together players from different levels and regions. Hosted at Korum Mall, the event also gave visitors an opportunity to witness high-level competitive chess and experience the sport’s growing popularity among audiences of all ages.
