Many people around the world are now feeling confined due to diminution in place because of the coronavirus pandemic. The front running potato chips maker Lay’s has launched four new internationally-inspired flavours to satisfy both food and travel cravings alike. The “Lay’s Flavor Trip” campaign is designed to reach out to a target group of young consumers who are more likely to eat snack foods and those who use social media to follow their favourite brands.

Lay’s has a niche audience on social media with about 6.5 million followers on Facebook, 960,00 on Instagram, and 455,000 on Twitter, which leads to easy winning in the limited edition flavours. The giveaway began on Aug-20 and will last until the stock runs out. Also, the new flavours won’t be sold in stores.

There’s the Tzatziki flavour, based on the classic yogurt and cucumber sauce from Greece, Lime and Sea Salt, stimulated by the beaches of Mexico, Beer, and Brats, putting together two of Germany’s favourites, and the Thai Basil Chili, acquired from the sweet and sour dishes of Thailand.

Lay’s is asking people to respond to its social media posts that ask for the countries they would want to visit the most, including Germany, Greece, Mexico, or Thailand and respondents will get a chance to win five different flavours of the pack.

Last month, Lay’s made an introduction to five flavours inspired by food from famous restaurants in different cities, while also donating money to help those restaurants to hold up their respective communities. Lay’s “Flavor Trip” campaign on social media comes up after targeting a younger audience. As this pandemic has made all of us mandate social distancing many of us are spending more time in the home itself. This will be an advantage for the company that this campaign can easily catch up in the mindset of consumers. Also, most of them have loaded up their pantries with snack foods and ate at home more often.

Anyone wishing to taste one of the new flavours will have to reply to one of the company’s social media posts and tell them which country you had liked to visit and a bag from the country they choose will be shipped to the lucky winners.
