Mumbai, December 2025: Leica, the legendary German name in cameras, optics, and precision craftsmanship, announces the growing presence of its second Leica Store in Mumbai. Opened earlier this year in May 2025, the store is envisioned as an inspiring destination for photographers, creators, collectors, and design enthusiasts. Situated in the heart of Bandra West, one of Mumbai’s most prominent shopping and artsy districts, the store invites visitors to discover the world of Leica through an experience shaped by heritage, creativity, and the timeless pursuit of “Das Wesentliche” – The Essentials.
This year is especially momentous for Leica Camera AG as it celebrates 100 years of the Leica I, the revolutionary 1925 camera that transformed photography and set the foundation for modern visual storytelling. A century later, Leica continues to embody this legacy of innovation, craftsmanship and cultural influence. Known for its precision engineering, iconic red dot and timeless design language, Leica remains synonymous with meaningful image-making, with systems like the M, SL and the compact Q-Series continuing to be the preferred tools of documentary photographers, creative professionals and discerning luxury consumers worldwide.
At the heart of Leica’s journey in India is a growing circle of visionaries shaping contemporary culture. The Ambassadors & Scholars of Leica Store India include celebrated street-photography pioneers Vineet Vohra and Rohit Vohra whose work has influenced photographers worldwide, renowned chef, entrepreneur and artist Ranveer Brar who brings a multidimensional creative voice to the brand; and wildlife conservationist Dr. Latika Nath, Leica Ambassador for Sports Optics known as The Tiger Princess of India. Their diverse perspectives along with an expanding group of Leica Scholars and young creators, reflect the brand’s belief that powerful images and meaningful impact can come from any background, discipline or genre.
The Mumbai space embodies the ethos of an experience store, a place where the Leica community can learn, engage and grow. Earlier this year, the store was home to a vibrant three-day celebration of creativity, transforming the space into a dynamic cultural hub. The gathering brought together influential names from photography, art, design and cinema, including Mr. Uddhav Thackeray as chief guest, alongside, Vasant Nath (Writer and Director), Vikas Birla & Arjun Khanna (Designer), Ulka Chauhan (Photographer) and rising young talent Aryan Pankhiyani, one of India’s youngest Leica photographers. Six Leica Connects sessions, one online contest for the social media audience, portfolio reviews by Leica Ambassadors Vineet and Rohit, and participation from over 100 creatives for the review turned the experience into a defining moment for Leica’s presence in the city.
