Prime Minister of Sri Lanka, Harini Amarasuriya, will be in New Delhi this month on her first official visit to India since assuming office. The highlight of her visit will be her participation in the NDTV World Summit 2025, on 17-18 October at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.
The NDTV World Summit, now in its second year, is a premier global conversation where heads of state, policymakers, business leaders, scientists, and cultural icons come together to deliberate on the challenges and opportunities of a rapidly changing world. With its 2025 theme, ‘Edge of the Unknown: Risk. Resolve. Renewal.’, the Summit will spotlight how nations and leaders can navigate disruption and build pathways of resilience and growth.
Prime Minister Amarasuriya’s presence at the Summit is expected to bring a powerful South Asian perspective to conversations on regional stability, sustainable development, and economic renewal. Her first trip to India underscores both the importance of Indo–Sri Lankan ties and the significance of the Summit as a platform for global engagement.
Speaking ahead of her visit, Prime Minister Amarasuriya said: ‘This will be my first official visit to India as the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka. India and Sri Lanka are bound together by history, culture, and shared values. I am looking forward to participating at the NDTV World Summit, where I will have the opportunity to engage with global leaders and thinkers. I hope to share Sri Lanka’s perspectives on international cooperation and economic resilience and to contribute to meaningful conversations on the pressing challenges of our region and the world.’
The 2025 edition of the NDTV World Summit will also be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Rishi Sunak, Former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, and Tony Abbott, Former Prime Minister of Australia. In addition, the Summit will feature a diverse constellation of Indian and global voices including Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, Harvard Professor Tarun Khanna, Raymond Group Chairman Gautam Singhania, General Atomics CEO Vivek Lall, astronaut Subhanshu Shukla, MIT’s Neill Thomson, OpenAI Chief Economist Dr Ronnie Chatterji, Yemeni-Emirati singer and actress Balqees Ahmed Fathi, and quantum physicist and ballerina Dr Merritt Moore.
As the global order evolves amidst disruption and opportunity, the NDTV World Summit in New Delhi will address the key inflection points shaping our future — from geopolitics and technology to climate action and social equity. By bringing together the world’s foremost minds in urgent yet visionary dialogue, the Summit will ignite conversations that will redefine how we imagine and build our collective future.
