Maruti Suzuki offers subscription services for Arena and Nexa variants

It is not every day that you come across a subscription service that is not connected to an online newspaper or a streaming network. Leading car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki has revealed a subscription plan for its Arena and Nexa variants in a move that shocked quite a few.

The ‘Subscribe’ programme provides individuals with simple and versatile car ownership. The company’s press release states that use a new vehicle without necessarily buying it and pay an all-inclusive monthly charge that includes full maintenance, insurance and roadside assistance in full.

Maruti Suzuki has collaborated with ORIX Auto Infrastructure Services India, a subsidiary of ORIX Corporation, Japan, to provide this system.

The system works in such a way where you have to select a car first. You can opt to sign up for the new Maruti Suzuki Arena Swift, Dzire, Vitara Brezza and Ertiga, as well as the new Nexa Baleno, Ciaz and XL6. Now, you must choose a tenure. Flexible choices exist for 12, 18, 24, 30, 36, 42 or 48 months.

Expenses such as repairs, zero depreciation protection and 24×7 roadside assistance cover all it-inclusive monthly charge. Upon completion of the tenure of the subscription, the consumer can often choose to upgrade or expand or purchase the vehicle at a market price.

‘Subscribe’ also provides clients with the right to choose between a white (registered in the name of the client) or a black (registered in the name of ORIX) tray.

However, tenure choices modify the basis of the colour of the plate. According to the firm’s site, white plate tenure options are valid for 24, 36 or 48 months. The available tenure choices are 12, 18, 24, 30, 36, 42 or 48 months for the black plate.

Maruti Suzuki India Limited, Executive Director (Marketing and Sales), Shashank Srivastava, said, “The vehicle subscription sector is new to India and offers enormous immense potential as such.” The penetration of such leasing systems globally ranges between 5 and 30 per cent. The extensive Maruti Suzuki ‘Subscribe’ project provides clients with numerous benefits and peace of mind from repair costs and insurance renewal issues.

In particular, the programme focuses on delivering comfort to individual consumers. It provides nil down payments in addition to tenure flexibility and includes registration costs, insurance and renewal, as well as regular maintenance. The roadside assistance facility gives the consumers complete comfort. We are gradually aiming to offer ‘Subscribe’ to Maruti Suzuki in the next 2-3 years in 40-60 cities.

In Delhi NCR (Noida, Ghaziabad, Faridabad and Gurugram), and Bengaluru, ‘Subscribe’ is currently only available.
