Kolkata, 05 February, 2026: The MATECIA Exhibition (Materials & Products for Construction, Interiors & Architecture), held alongside the SURFACES REPORTER Architecture Event, concluded at Biswa Bangla Mela Prangan (BBMP), Kolkata, after a successful three-day run from 30 January to 1 February 2026. The event was inaugurated in the presence of distinguished industry leaders and senior architects. National Award–winning actor, motivational speaker, and Founder of Ashish Vidyarthi & Associates, Mr. Ashish Vidyarthi, graced the inauguration ceremony as the Chief Guest. The event also featured a keynote at IIR on Day 2 by Mr. Keshav Bhajanka, Executive Director, Century Ply, and saw Ar. Dulal Mukherjee being honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award by Surfaces Reporter Magazine.
The event brought together architects, interior designers, developers, building material manufacturers, dealers and channel partners from across East and Northeast India. Over three days, the platform enabled meaningful industry interaction, product showcasing and knowledge exchange between the architectural fraternity and the building materials ecosystem.
Spread across over 1,50,000 sq. ft., the event featured 100+ interior and surface brands and recorded an estimated 14,000 to 16,000 visitors during the exhibition period. Attendees travelled from 100+ towns and cities across states, including West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar, Odisha, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Mizoram, Manipur, Tripura, Chhattisgarh, Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim.
The exhibition saw participation from architecture and design firms, interior designers and developers, representing landmark projects across residential, commercial, hospitality and institutional segments. Footfall and engagement remained steady across all three days, underlining the scale and growing momentum of the region’s design and building materials market.

A key highlight of the platform was Surfaces Reporter Salutes – Architecture & Design Honours, held on 31 January 2026, which recognised around 100 architects and interior designers from East and Northeast India for their contribution across residential, commercial, hospitality, institutional and urban design categories.
Among the notable awardees recognised during the ceremony were Ar. Jay Prakash Agarwal of Agrawal & Agrawal, Architects Planner and Interior Designer, Kolkata; Ar. Anjan Gupta of Anjan Gupta Architects, Kolkata; Ar. Santosh Banka of Banka & Associates, Guwahati; Ar. Lalrinzuala Ralte of Catalyst Architecture, Aizawl; and ID Deborup Das of Internal Affairs, Kolkata, among others.
The awards were presented by an eminent group of dignitaries, including Ashoke Viswanathan, Professor and National Award-winning Film Director; Mr.Rahul Todi, Managing Director, Shrachi Sports and Managing Director, Shrachi Housing Development Ltd; Pragat Dvivedi, Director, MATECIA Exhibition; Verticaa Dvivedi, Director, Surfaces Reporter Architecture Event; and Madhurima Chaudhary, Executive Director, Surfaces Reporter.

In addition to the exhibition, the event featured India Interior Retailing (IIR), facilitating interaction between interior retail stakeholders and industry leaders, along with the Surfaces Reporter SHOWCASE, where brands presented products and architects shared observations, encouraging direct dialogue between designers and manufacturers.
With strong participation from the architectural community, consistent visitor engagement and active industry involvement across all three days, the MATECIA Exhibition and SURFACES REPORTER Architecture Event, East and Northeast India edition concluded successfully, reinforcing Kolkata’s position as a key industry platform for the region.
