Commenting on the recognition, Mr Nishant Kanodia, Chairman, Matix Fertilisers and Chemicals Limited, stated, “Receiving the prestigious ‘Best Production Performance’ award from the Fertiliser Association of India, two years in a row, within just the fourth year of operations is a testament to the extraordinary pace at which Matix has matured. We are proving that when deep industry expertise meets next-generation manufacturing, we can accelerate India’s journey toward self-reliance. This recognition belongs entirely to the resilience and innovation of every Matixian who has worked tirelessly to turn a bold vision into a record-breaking reality. To my team: thank you for setting a new benchmark; we are just getting started.”
The awards were presented during the inaugural session of the FAI Annual Seminar in New Delhi, which focused on fertiliser management for a green and farmer empowered future. The theme reflects India’s push for efficient nutrient use, lower import dependence and climate responsive manufacturing. The dual awards recognise Matix’s strong performance trajectory and underscore its capability to deliver reliable output and sustained efficiency gains in a sector central to India’s food and agricultural security.
Mr Manoj Mishra, MD, Matix Fertilisers and Chemicals Limited further added, “Receiving the Fertiliser Association of India award for the ‘Best Production Performance for Nitrogenous Fertiliser Plant’ for the second year running, and the award for ‘Improvement in Overall Performance of a Company’, is a proud milestone for Matix and a tribute to the dedication of our team at Panagarh, whose operational discipline and technical excellence drive our performance every day. These recognitions also reflect the collective effort of every Matixian across functions, working with a shared commitment to reliability, safety, and continuous improvement. I would also like to acknowledge the professional freedom extended by our Chairman, which enables us to consistently strive for excellence. We remain focused on delivering superior value and contributing to India’s food security with innovation and sustainable growth.”
Matix has emerged as one of India’s most efficient nitrogen fertiliser producers, driven by operational excellence and energy focused productivity at its Panagarh facility. The plant has become a key anchor for fertiliser supply in Eastern India, where demand continues to rise.
In FY2025, Matix produced 1.47 million tonnes of urea, exceeding its 1.27 MTPA capacity and achieving about 115 percent utilisation. This performance supports India’s efforts to strengthen domestic manufacturing and reduce exposure to volatile global gas markets. Panagarh now supplies nearly 20 percent of Eastern India’s urea, aiding state nutrient planning and ensuring timely availability to farmers.
Matix is one of the country’s youngest yet fastest growing producers, operating across nine states through more than one thousand dealers and sixty thousand retailers, with a portfolio covering urea, non-urea and speciality fertilisers.
