Matthew Rhys, fresh off his double Emmy win, Ruth Wilson, Phoebe Dynevor and Harriet Walter have been set to star in Lisa Jewell’s Audible Original, All She Wants for Christmas, which launched on November 2.
Described as a “chilling tale of obsession, ambition, and the dangerous space between truth and fiction”, the synopsis reads: “Fiddy (Matthew Rhys) and Louise Stone (Ruth Wilson) had the perfect marriage, until Louise became a bestselling author and their world was turned upside down. Now Louise has the money, the fame, and all the power. Fiddy has his resentments and he also has Kate (Phoebe Dynevor), his younger ‘office wife’ who makes him feel seen, understood, and appreciated in ways Louise no longer does.”
Popular Brit novelist Jewell said: “I am giddy with excitement about this production. Not only was All She Wants for Christmas an absolute joy to write, but it has now been transformed by Audible into one of the best audiobook productions I have ever heard, featuring some of the greatest actors currently working. I still can’t quite believe that we asked Ruth, Matthew, Harriet and Phoebe to narrate and that they all said yes! Such a coup! Roll on November 2nd, I can’t wait.”
Aurélie de Troyer, Head of International Content, Audible, commented: “Lisa Jewell is a global phenomenon whose psychological thrillers have captivated millions of readers worldwide, and we’re absolutely delighted to be working with her on her first Audible Original. All She Wants for Christmas is an intricately plotted tale of obsession, and we’ve assembled an exceptional cast to bring this story to life in audio. This is definitely not your typical Christmas story; it’s a darkly compelling thriller that’s perfect for anyone who likes their festive season with a twist.”
The Original is being released simultaneously in French, Spanish, Italian and German, with local talent narrating.
Jewel’s novels include Then She Was Gone, Watching You, The Family Upstairs, Invisible Girl, None Of This Is True and Don’t Let Him In.
