DELHI, Jan. 29, 2026 – The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Government of India, today announced a collaboration with Google Cloud and Chaudhary Charan Singh University (CCSU), Meerut, to develop a national framework for modernising India’s vocational ecosystem by leveraging advanced Cloud and AI technologies.
The initiative was unveiled at Google’s AI for Learning Forum in Delhi, in the presence of Shri Jayant Chaudhary, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) and Minister of State for the Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India. The event was also attended by Smt Debashree Mukherjee, Secretary, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) along with senior officers from both the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and Ministry of Education.
Setting a national framework for vocational and training excellence in an AI era As India pursues the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, the convergence of digital innovation and youth potential is vital for inclusive growth. This collaboration seeks to establish CCSU as a national pilot institution to highlight opportunities to enhance higher education and vocational training for an AI-first era.
CCSU will collaborate with Google Cloud to tackle high-impact administrative and pedagogical challenges by leveraging the Gemini Enterprise platform to automate workflows, support staff efficiency, and facilitate research and student learning outcomes through personalised AI-tutors and AI-led skill gap analysis. To ensure seamless execution, Placecom will be the dedicated implementation partner to oversee the technical deployment and operational integration of these AI solutions across the university’s ecosystem.
The project will function as a key enabler and equalizer for supporting access to opportunities that were previously unattainable due to linguistic, geographical, or financial constraints – thereby contributing towards the path toward realizing the vision of Viksit Bharat.
Shri Jayant Chaudhary, Hon’ble Minister of State (I/C), MSDE and MoE, said, “To realize the vision of a Viksit Bharat, we must empower our entire educational ecosystem with digital tools and AI – from the students in the classroom to the educators leading them. This collaboration with Google Cloud and Chaudhary Charan Singh University is a step toward bridging the digital divide. By establishing this AI-Enabled University pilot, we are aiming to create a framework that will allow thousands of institutions to independently elevate their standards. When we equip our teachers with world-class AI tools and our colleges with smarter operational frameworks, we help in preparing students, regardless of geography, to be ready to lead in the AI era. Ultimately,
we are working to modernize education so that a student’s success is defined by their talent and drive, ensuring they graduate not just with a degree, but with the high-demand skills to thrive in the workforce.”
Preeti Lobana, Country Manager and VP, Google India, said, “Google is deeply committed to supporting India’s vision of becoming a global AI hub. Through this collaboration, CCSU will leverage Google Cloud and Gemini to create learning solutions from personalized learning to AI-driven career support. By supporting CCSU’s evolution into an AI-first institution, we are aiming to pilot a framework for modernising India’s education and skill development. We are excited to work with MSDE and CCSU to demonstrate how technology can help unlock human potential at scale, with the goal of ensuring that every student, regardless of geography, gains access to world-class learning tools. ”
The collaboration aims to focus on:
- Democratising student access through personalised AI mentorship and vernacular inclusion: Personalised AI Tutors for tailored educational paths and learning support; enabling skill-gap analysis to help students align their learning with global workforce requirements. Leveraging Gemini’s language capabilities, youth in regional areas can benefit from AI in supported local languages.
- Transforming teachers into architects of AI-first learning: Educators will be supported in delivering a cutting-edge AI curriculum, to enable students to learn relevant industry skills at their own pace. Faculty can leverage Gemini to help design teaching content, interactive simulations, and multi-lingual teaching aids tailored to the specific learning speeds and interests of their students—with the goal of enhancing the quality and relevance of lectures.
- Supporting operational efficiency through intelligent automation for administrators and staff: The university can implement university administrative operational reforms using intelligent document processing and automated workflows to assist with administrative processes aiming to reduce the administrative burden and support institutional efficiency.
Core to this initiative is expanding the reach of the benefits of AI in higher education beyond urban centers or premier technical institutes. The goal of the program is to facilitate responsible modernisation at scale, creating opportunities for students in regional universities to access world-class AI tools and mentorship.
From the pilot, MSDE will leverage insights from CCSU to develop a National Best Practice Framework to guide India’s 50,000+ colleges and 1,200+ universities to effectively implement AI and self-credentialise as an “AI-enabled University”.
As a designated Center of Excellence, CCSU will also host knowledge-sharing sessions for the MSDE network to showcase the tangible benefits of AI integration – addressing the institutional challenge of scalability, providing a high-tech framework that can modernise thousands of colleges, while nurturing students.
