Monarch Liberty Hospitality Expands to Its Sixth and Largest Property, Betting Big on Multi-Concept Scale in Mumbai’s Dining Market

With Sorena, a duplex dining and bar concept across the 11th and 12th floors in Bandra, Monarch marks its largest single-property investment to date, extending a six-property portfolio built on category diversity rather than format replication.

MUMBAI, 7th September, 2026: Monarch Liberty Hospitality Pvt Ltd has opened its sixth property in approximately 4 years and its largest to date. Sorena, a duplex dining and bar concept spanning the 11th and 12th floors in Bandra, the group’s most significant single-property commitment since its founding.

The property spans approximately 11,000 sq ft across two floors, with seating capacity for 250. On the team front, Sorena’s launch has added to Monarch’s workforce, taking the group’s total headcount to 550 across all properties, including two pivotal leadership additions over the past year, Mr. Kersi Marker, Chief Operating Officer, and Ms. Sneha Sharma, Vice President of Marketing.  The expansion continues a deliberate growth strategy for Monarch Liberty Hospitality, which has opened a new property roughly every 6-7 months since its founding, a pace the group attributes to a category-diversification model rather than replicating a single successful format across locations.

“For us, growth has always had to mean something more than just size,” said Sumit Govind Sharma, Founder and Director, Monarch Liberty Hospitality. “Every property has to earn its own reason to exist  – Sorena earns it through scale. This is our biggest bet yet, and it reflects where we think the market is heading: fewer, more ambitious spaces rather than rapid, undifferentiated expansion.”

The group’s revenue has grown 40-45% year-on-year over the past 4 years, and Monarch Liberty Hospitality projects the portfolio will cross ₹100 crore in group revenue this fiscal year, with Sorena expected to contribute 30% of that figure within its first year of operation.

“The scale of this space lets us think differently about format,” Sharma added. “We’re not just adding covers; we’re building a dining and bar experience that can operate as two distinct businesses under one roof, which changes the unit economics of the property compared to a standard single-floor restaurant.”

At the heart of Sorena’s identity is a cosmopolitan dining philosophy the group calls ‘five cities on a plate’; a menu that moves fluidly across global food cultures within a single sitting, rather than anchoring to one cuisine or region, paired with Atlas, its dedicated bar program. The property is designed less as a restaurant with a bar attached and more as two distinct cosmopolitan experiences sharing one address, a format Monarch believes reflects how Mumbai’s dining audience already eats: without borders and without needing an occasion to justify it.

Sorena joins TAT, Eve across 3 locations (Powai, Worli and Santacruz) and Que Sera Sera, where together, these properties reflect Monarch Liberty Hospitality’s broader approach: building distinct, purpose-led spaces rather than a single format repeated across the city.

The investment comes as India’s organized dining and hospitality sector continues to see accelerated capital deployment, with operators increasingly betting on experiential, large-format properties over smaller, high-frequency openings. Monarch’s move reflects that broader industry shift, positioning the group among a small set of independent operators scaling multi-concept portfolios in metro markets.

Sorena is now open in Bandra, with private dining and event spaces open for corporate and celebratory bookings ahead of the festive season.

About Monarch Liberty Hospitality

A new-age hospitality company built on the belief that dining is not just a service, but a culture one shaped by consistency, ambience, and genuine human connection. Guided by Founder & Director Sumit Govind Sharma, the company’s philosophy centers on “hospitality with intention”: thoughtfully designed spaces, ingredient-led menus, and experiences that make every guest feel recognized and valued.

Sumit often speaks about creating restaurants that are emotionally familiar yet experientially fresh, where design, service, and operations work in harmony. His approach brings together deep operational discipline, strong team culture, and a constant pursuit of quality, building concepts that are scalable, culturally relevant, and rooted in long-term brand value rather than trends.

Today, ‘Monarch Liberty Hospitality’ portfolio spans six addresses across Mumbai, anchored by four distinct concepts – Eve, present across three locations (Powai, Worli and Santacruz); Que Sera Sera [Andheri], TAT (Vikhroli), and the recently launched Sorena (Bandra), each with its own identity, united by the same founding philosophy of intention, consistency, and connection.
