Mother Dairy Marks World Environment Day 2026 with a Heartfelt Campaign Featuring India’s First Naturally Degradable Milk Pouch in Soil

Through a new campaign built around the thought – “Jo maa rakhe sabka khayal, Mother Dairy ko hai us maa ka khayal” – the brand celebrates care, responsibility and conscious innovation.

New Delhi | June 03, 2026: This World Environment Day, Mother Dairy – India’s beloved milk and milk products major – is bringing alive a heartfelt story of care, responsibility and conscious innovation through a new digital campaign built around the thought, “Jo maa rakhe sabka khayal, Mother Dairy ko hai us maa ka khayal”. The new campaign reflects Mother Dairy’s latest step towards strengthening the environmental profile of its milk packaging through the introduction of India’s first naturally degradable milk pouch in soil.

Conceptualised by Ogilvy, the campaign is led by a digital film that traces the journey of a milk pouch. The film is further elevated by a moving soundtrack rendered by acclaimed artist Swanand Kirkire, adding emotional warmth and depth to the narrative.

Talking about the new campaign, Mr. Jayatheertha Chary, Managing Director, Mother Dairy, said, “At Mother Dairy, care has always been at the heart of everything we do. This World Environment Day is particularly significant for us as we take a meaningful step towards strengthening the environmental profile of our milk packaging through India’s first naturally degradable milk pouch in soil. What makes this initiative even more special is the scale at which it will reach consumers from day one – nearly 2 million packs of Mother Dairy Cow Milk will be supplied every day in the new packaging across households in Delhi NCR. Our latest packaging innovation and the campaign reflects the spirit of care that has always defined Mother Dairy – not just towards farmers and consumers, but towards the larger ecosystem we are part of.”

Mother Dairy is introducing India’s FIRST naturally degradable milk pouch in soil as part of its continued journey towards responsible and environmentally conscious innovation. Starting World Environment Day 2026, the company will make this new packaging available to consumers through its famed Cow Milk variant in Delhi NCR, alongside a refreshed pack design.

Film Execution

The film unfolds with an unexpected rebellion, a milk pouch breaks free from a garbage truck mid-journey, lifting itself into the air as if determined to rewrite its fate. What follows is a surreal spectacle across the city. Eyes turn upward. Sanitation workers pause, onlookers watch in quiet astonishment, as the pouch glides purposefully through bustling streets, almost as if it knows where it belongs. In fleeting moments through the film, a young child carrying an environmental school project while riding with his parent on a motorcycle, and later a young man passing by on the street, both instinctively reach out to catch the flying pack with hope as it drifts past them. Amid everyday life movements, the pack finally settles to the ground. In a gentle passage of time, it becomes one with the soil, offering a quiet glimpse of natural degradation. The film ends with the brand’s message “Jo maa rakhe sabka khayal, Mother Dairy ko hai us maa ka khayal”.

Mr. Sujoy Roy, Chief Creative Officer, Ogilvy India, added, “There’s always that one rogue milk pack that escapes the recycling system. Will it end up in a landfill? Or drift into a drain somewhere? Difficult to tell. That’s what makes Mother Dairy’s naturally degradable milk pouch such a simple yet profound idea. Even if a pack loses its way, it eventually goes back to nature. That thought became the heart of our storytelling. We wanted to give the pouch a voice that felt free spirited and adventurous, and craft the film like a gentle misdirect where you follow its journey only to realise that, for once, going back into the earth is actually a serendipitous ending. Swanand Kirkire’s voice brings warmth and humanity to that journey.”

Mother Dairy encourages consumers to continue following local waste-disposal guidelines. The naturally degradable milk pouch in soil is designed to support improved end-of-life outcomes under suitable conditions and is not intended to encourage littering or open dumping.

Alongside this pioneering packaging innovation, Mother Dairy is also introducing a refreshed design language for its milk portfolio. Central to the packaging refresh – which begins with Mother Dairy’s famed Cow Milk variant – is the ‘Note of Care’, a distinctive brand device inspired by the brand’s iconic logo, bringing alive the promise of Maa Jaisi care through relatable everyday expressions – whether it is a reminder to “drink your milk” or a gentle nudge to “get home safe” – in a fun, fresh and contemporary manner, reflecting Mother Dairy’s warmth and affection. Complementing the holding structure, the refreshed packaging design also introduces cleaner typography and brighter visual tones, creating a more modern and cohesive brand identity. Going forward, the new design system will unify the brand’s entire milk portfolio under a cohesive ‘Mother Dairy’ look, enhancing recall and brand equity.
