NDTV Appoints Ramarko Sengupta as AI Editor to Power Its Next-Generation Newsroom

NDTV has appointed Ramarko Sengupta as AI Editor, as it reimagines its newsroom for a world where artificial intelligence will increasingly shape how stories are discovered, produced, and experienced.

Ramarko brings over two decades of experience across digital, television, print, and wire journalism. Over the years, he has built and led editorial verticals that sit at the intersection of business, technology, startups, and policy – conversations that are now central to the way news is produced and consumed.

Most recently, as Associate Editor at The Economic Times’ B2B verticals, he was driving new editorial tracks around AI, Global Capability Centres, and startups – helping shape coverage around India’s next wave of economic transformation. Prior to this, at YourStory, he led editorial and brand solutions content while anchoring high-impact video conversations with founders, business leaders, and innovators.

His earlier roles include leading business and auto verticals at The Times of India Online, being part of the founding editorial team at FactorDaily, and serving as Senior Assistant Editor at NDTV Convergence, where he led business news coverage and played a key role in major global event reporting, including the World Economic Forum. His reporting career has also seen him cover landmark moments such as Coal India’s record IPO, Union Budgets, elections, and critical policy developments.

Ramarko has worked across formats – text, video, multimedia, and live presentations – bringing together editorial clarity and depth, while also mentoring teams and building content ecosystems that respond to changing audience behaviours.

At NDTV, he will lead the integration of AI into editorial workflows and storytelling, reimagining how stories are discovered, verified, produced, and delivered in an era increasingly shaped by intelligent systems.

Rahul Kanwal, CEO and Editor-in-Chief, NDTV, said on the appointment, ‘We are entering a phase where the advantage will not come from access alone, but from how intelligently information is processed and presented. AI is beginning to influence every layer of journalism – from discovery to distribution. Ramarko combines strong editorial instincts with a deep engagement with new media and emerging technologies. He will help us build a newsroom that is faster, sharper, and more responsive, while remaining anchored in our DNA of trust.’

On his new role, Ramarko Sengupta said, ‘The conversation around AI in journalism often focuses on efficiency. For me, the real opportunity lies in enhancing depth, clarity, and relevance. At a time when content is abundant, what will stand out is thoughtful, credible storytelling. NDTV has always stood for that. I look forward to building systems and frameworks where AI strengthens editorial judgment and helps us tell better stories.’

This appointment comes as NDTV continues to invest in data-led journalism, intelligent content systems, and new storytelling formats – positioning itself to lead with credibility and clarity in an increasingly complex, AI-driven media landscape
