Bengaluru, India – November 17, 2025: Neuberg Anand organized a Cancer Awareness Walkathon on Sunday, November 16, 2025, to promote awarenessofcancer prevention, early detection, and timely screening among the public. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from the local community and healthcare fraternity, reinforcing the importance of collective action in the fight against cancer.Over 500 participants, including doctors, laboratory professionals, medical students, cancer survivors, partner organizations and residents from across the city, joined the walk.
Starting from Neuberg Anand Reference Laboratory, Shivajinagar, the walk was flagged offby Sri Devaraju, IPS, DCP East Division, Bengaluru City, who graced the event as the Chief Guest along with Dr. Sujay Prasad, Chief Medical Director, Neuberg Diagnostics, Ms. Aishwarya Vasudevan, Group COO, Neuberg Diagnostics. The participants walked holding placards and banners with messages such as “Early Detection Saves Lives,” “Fight Cancer with Hope,” and “Together We Can.”
The state’s cancer incidence rate is around 101.6 per 100,000 people, placing Karnataka among the higher-burden states. In Karnataka alone, recent estimates indicate approximately 87,000 new cancer cases annually, with the State accounting for around 6.2% of India’s national cancer burden. The prevalence currently stands at over230,000 cases in the state.
Speaking about the initiative, Dr. Sujay Prasad, Chief Medical Director, NeubergDiagnosticsstated, “This walkathon aimed not only to increase awareness but also to honour cancer survivors, caregivers, and the medical community working tirelessly in cancer care. It was a platform that enabled a collective pledge to continue spreading awareness, support early screening initiatives, and stand with cancer survivors. The event served as a strong reminder of the power of community-led actions in promoting better health outcomes”.
As part of the event, Dr. Arvind M N, Medical Superintendent of Bowring and Lady Curzon Hospital Shivajianagar, delivered an impactful awareness talk to the participant. He emphasized the significance of early diagnosis, regular screenings, and lifestyle modifications to reduce cancer risks. Educational pamphlets on cancer prevention and support resources were distributed to participants and the general public.
