National, July 27thn, 2026: Some rules were simply never meant to be broken. More than twenty years after Paramount Picture’s iconic film Mean Girls first gave the world Regina George, the Burn Book and a generation’s favourite fashion rule, NEWME is bringing the cult classic back-this time straight into the wardrobes of India’s Gen Z women.
In collaboration with JioStar Consumer Products, NEWME today unveiled an exclusive Mean Girls collection alongside its nationwide campaign, “On Wednesdays We Wear NEWME.” Inspired by one of pop culture’s most influential fashion films, the collection reimagines its iconic attitude, Y2K aesthetic and unforgettable one-liners through a distinctly NEWME lens.
Launching across NEWME’s website, app and retail stores nationwide, the collection features over 200 styles spanning dresses, tops, T-shirts, skirts, bottoms and accessories designed for a generation that grew up discovering Mean Girls through memes, streaming, social media and the Y2K revival as much as through the original film itself.
More than a movie, Mean Girls became a fashion language. Pink Wednesdays. Plaid skirts. Baby tees. Mini bags. Regina George confidence. Gretchen Wieners energy. Karen Smith chaos. Quotable moments that somehow still dominate conversations, Instagram captions and fashion trends decades later.
But the collaboration goes well beyond fashion. Across the country, NEWME stores will transform into immersive Mean Girls destinations, complete with dedicated in-store experiences celebrating the film’s most iconic moments. Every Wednesday, shoppers spending over RS 3,000/- will receive exclusive Mean Girls-themed collectibles, while creator collaborations, giveaways, scene recreations and digital-first content will bring the campaign to life across social media.
Commenting on the launch, Sumit Jasoria, Co-founder and CEO, NEWME, said, “At NEWME, we’ve always believed fashion is part of culture-not separate from it. Mean Girls is one of those rare films whose influence has travelled far beyond cinema to shape fashion, internet humour and everyday conversations for generations. ‘On Wednesdays We Wear Pink’ wasn’t just a movie line; it became a cultural ritual. Partnering with JioStar Consumer Products to bring this iconic franchise to life felt like a natural fit, allowing us to reimagine a global pop-culture phenomenon through the lens of India’s Gen Z fashion community. With this collaboration, we wanted to celebrate that legacy while giving it a distinctly NEWME spin for today’s generation. Whether someone grew up watching Mean Girls or discovered it through the Y2K revival online, this collection is designed to let everyone be part of that world.”
NEWME’s latest collaboration celebrates exactly that intersection where nostalgia meets today’s internet culture. The collection features statement graphic tees inspired by Regina George, Karen Smith and Gretchen Wieners, trend-led dresses, separates and accessories featuring iconic references including “On Wednesdays We Wear Pink,” “So Fetch,” “You Can’t Sit With Us,” and “Why Are You So Obsessed With Me?” Fans can also expect playful Y2K-inspired accessories including flip-phone cases, oversized sunglasses, low-rise waist chains, tiered lace skirts and an exclusive Burn Book-inspired collectible.
A JioStar Spokesperson, added, “Mean Girls has evolved far beyond the screen to become a lasting cultural and fashion phenomenon, making it a natural fit for consumer products. With NEWME, we’ve found a partner that instinctively understands today’s youth, enabling us to bring one of entertainment’s most iconic properties into a contemporary fashion experience that feels authentic, relevant, and rooted in pop culture.”
For NEWME, the collaboration also marks another step in its growing pop-culture strategy, bringing globally loved entertainment franchises into everyday fashion experiences for India’s digitally native generation.
The NEWME x Mean Girls collection is now available across NEWME’s website, app and retail stores nationwide.
