Bengaluru, 27th January 2026: The TTK Group is deeply honoured to share that their Promoter and former Chairman, the late Shri. T.T. Jagannathan, has been awarded the Padma Shri, one of India’s highest civilian honours, in recognition of his distinguished service and contributions to Indian Trade and Industry. The award has been conferred posthumously, paying tribute to a legacy that continues to inspire millions.
The announcement, made by the Government of India as part of the Padma Awards 2026, acknowledges Shri T.T. Jagannathan’s visionary leadership and enduring impact on Indian industry. The TTK Group and the family of Shri. T.T. Jagannathan extend their heartfelt gratitude to the Government of India for this recognition of Shri. T.T. Jagannathan’s contributions to the nation.
Biography:
T.T. Jagannathan was born on May 13th, 1948, to parents T.T. Narasimhan and Padma Narasimhan. He completed his Mechanical Engineering degree at IIT Madras in 1970, where he graduated with distinction and was a gold medallist. He then obtained a Master of Science degree in Operations Research at Cornell University, USA. Taking the helm of TTK Prestige (then known as T.T. Limited) in 1975, he dedicated over 50 years of his life to transforming the landscape of the Indian kitchenware Industry. His pioneering invention of the Gasket Release System (GRS), a fail-safe device for pressure cookers, revolutionised the category. Rather than patenting his remarkable invention, he allowed the entire industry to adopt it so millions of families across India could benefit from it. Under T.T. Jagannathan’s stewardship the TTK Group companies TTK Prestige and TTK Healthcare built a reputation for quality, innovation and trust while expanding their footprint across India and internationally, touching lives across many sectors and contributing to India’s progress. T.T. Jagannathan passed away on October 9th, 2025, at the age of 77.
