Passionate in Marketing – In Conversation With Vicky Dodani, Co-founder & CEO, Agrizy

How Agrizy is Leveraging AI to Accelerate Product Innovation from Concept to Commercialization

Q1. Agrizy recently introduced a Gen AI-powered formulation platform. What inspired the development of this solution?

Vicky Dodani: Over the years, we observed that one of the biggest challenges in product innovation wasn’t a lack of ideas, it was the time and complexity involved in turning those ideas into market-ready products. Brands often spend months moving between R&D teams, sourcing partners, compliance experts, and manufacturing facilities before they have a viable product. We built our GenAI-powered formulation platform to bring these fragmented workflows together into a single intelligence layer, helping accelerate the journey from concept ideation to commercialization.

Q2. In simple terms, what does the platform do for Food & Beverage and Wellness brands?

Vicky Dodani: At its core, the platform turns a product idea into a manufacturing-ready formulation. A user can define parameters such as product category, target cost, shelf life, dietary preferences, claims, ingredient restrictions and sensory requirements. Within minutes, the platform generates ranked formulation options, ingredient compositions, cost estimates, nutritional analysis, regulatory flags, and lab-ready documentation. What traditionally required multiple iterations across different stakeholders can now be accomplished through a structured, AI-assisted workflow.

Q3. What are the biggest bottlenecks in traditional product development that Agrizy is solving?

Vicky Dodani: Traditionally, product development involves multiple rounds of formulation iterations, testing, costing, and compliance reviews. A founder or brand team may wait several weeks for a sample, only to discover that the cost, taste, texture, or regulatory requirements need further adjustments. This cycle can repeat multiple times. We found that a significant amount of time is lost not in the lab itself, but in coordination, data gathering and decision-making. Our platform significantly reduces formulation iterations during product development. Powered by a GenAI-driven Formulations Studio, it incorporates a deterministic chemistry layer that proactively eliminates non-viable formulations before they reach the lab, accelerating NPD cycles and reducing both development costs and time-to-market.

Q4. Many AI tools can generate recipes or product suggestions. What makes Agrizy’s platform different?

Vicky Dodani: Our competitive advantage lies in the proprietary domain intelligence powering the platform. Built on 5,000+ proprietary formulations, ingredient ontologies, regulatory frameworks, and real-world laboratory outcomes, the system learns from both successful and failed formulation pathways across the product lifecycle.

Developed in collaboration with Agrizy’s in-house R&D experts, bringing over 100 years of collective experience from organizations such as HUL, ITC, Himalaya, Dabur, and OmniActive, the platform continuously improves through a closed-loop feedback system, enabling faster, more accurate, and commercially viable formulation development.

Q5. How does the platform work alongside Agrizy’s R&D and laboratory infrastructure?

Vicky Dodani: The platform is tightly integrated with our Ingredients Lab, F&B Lab and Formulation Lab. Once a formulation is approved on the studio, it can be converted into a manufacturing-ready lab sheet for prototyping and validation. Teams can capture quality parameters, stability data, sensory results, and trial outcomes directly within the system. This creates a continuous feedback loop where laboratory learnings strengthen future AI recommendations. In effect, we are combining artificial intelligence with scientific expertise and real-world validation rather than treating them as separate functions.

Q6. What business impact has Agrizy seen from integrating this platform into its operations?

Vicky Dodani: The impact has been significant. By integrating the platform into our product development workflows, we have reduced NPD timelines and cost-to-market, helping reduce the journey from product idea to market-ready SKU for global brands, accelerating compliance validation, and enabling faster transition from concept ideation to manufacturing-ready formulations. The platform enabled Agrizy’s R&D teams to bring 5-10x more products to market compared to traditional CDMO workflows. In the last one year alone, Agrizy commercialized 30+ products, with 100+ additional products currently under development.

Q7. What is your long-term vision for AI in product innovation and commercialization?

Vicky Dodani: We believe AI will become a foundational layer for product innovation across the Food & Beverage and Wellness industries. The future is not about replacing scientists, formulators, or product teams—it is about amplifying their expertise.

Our vision is to build an intelligence-driven innovation ecosystem where AI acts as a co-pilot, enabling experts to make faster, better-informed decisions while reducing repetitive and time-intensive tasks. Rather than replacing scientific fundamentals, the platform augments them by automating knowledge retrieval, formulation screening, regulatory checks, and other routine workflows, allowing teams to focus on creativity, problem-solving, and scientific judgment.

The most successful organizations will not be those that rely solely on AI, but those that effectively combine it with deep scientific expertise, and execution capabilities. By bringing these elements together, brands can move from identifying consumer needs to launching commercially successful products with greater speed, precision, and confidence.

We believe the next era of product innovation will be defined by human expertise enhanced by intelligent systems where AI serves as a force multiplier for scientists, formulators, and product teams rather than a substitute for them.
