‘Pehle Baat, Phir Baraat’: Muzz Looks Beyond the Biodata to Rethink Modern Matchmaking

Campaign brings together digital content, videos and real-world experiences to encourage meaningful conversations before taking the next step

Delhi, 27th August 2026: Before the wedding plans, family introductions and the baraat, there is something that often gets overlooked: the baat. With this thought, Muzz, the global Muslim matchmaking platform, has launched ‘Pehle Baat, Phir Baraat’, a campaign encouraging people to spend more time getting to know a potential partner before making one of life’s biggest decisions: marriage.

The campaign moves beyond the traditional idea of matchmaking being centred on profiles, biodatas and checklists. Instead, it puts the spotlight on the conversations that can help two people understand whether they are genuinely compatible, from expectations around marriage and family dynamics to careers, lifestyle, children, values, priorities and what everyday married life could look like.

The campaign will unfold across digital content, videos and real-world experiences, featuring real people, relatable situations and conversations around the questions that matter before saying yes. It also explores an often-overlooked part of getting to know someone: knowing what to ask, what not to ask and how to have conversations that go beyond the obvious.

Taking ‘Pehle Baat, Phir Baraat’ offline with Raabta

Taking the campaign’s central thought from the digital space into the real world, Muzz is also hosting Raabta, a singles mixer in Delhi designed to create a more natural setting for meaningful connections.

Scheduled for September 5 at The Piano Man, Delhi, Raabta will bring together single Muslims for an evening centred on meeting new people, having genuine conversations and experiencing matchmaking beyond the traditional biodata format. The event will feature curated matchmaking activities, conversations, live entertainment and opportunities for attendees to connect in person.

The event is already sold out, reflecting the interest in offline experiences that complement digital matchmaking.

Raabta represents the campaign’s larger belief that while technology can help people discover potential partners, meaningful conversations are what help people understand each other. By creating an environment where people can meet and interact beyond the usual checklist of matchmaking, Muzz is extending the ‘Pehle Baat, Phir Baraat’ philosophy into real life.

Shahzad Younas, Founder and CEO, Muzz, said: “We often spend a lot of time thinking about the wedding, but much less time talking about the marriage. ‘Pehle Baat, Phir Baraat’ is about changing that. We want people to feel comfortable having the conversations that really matter before they make a commitment, whether that is about family, finances, careers, children, values or simply what they expect from each other. Through our videos, digital content and Raabta experiences, we want to make these conversations feel less intimidating and more natural. Because a profile can help you meet someone, but a conversation helps you know them.”

The campaign reflects a broader shift in how people are approaching relationships and marriage today, where compatibility is increasingly about shared expectations and honest conversations, rather than simply matching profiles or ticking boxes.

Through ‘Pehle Baat, Phir Baraat’, Muzz aims to make meaningful conversations an essential part of the matchmaking journey, encouraging people to take the time to understand each other before taking the next step.

Because while the baraat may be the celebration, the baat is where the relationship begins.
