Piyush Goyal,Minister of Commerce and Industry Launches Land Banks

Lase week, Piyush Goyal the Minister of Commerce and Industry said that he will soon do a soft launch of a land bank that is available with some of the state for industry. Nearly five lakh hectares of the area have been identified. He also said that the Ministry of Commerce and Industry is also trying to create a land bank portal.

It will help a person sitting anywhere in the world can look at the land plot, by using google earth map it will be available all over the country. He also said that very soon he will do a soft launch of land banks that are available with some of the states, already six states shared their data. Nearly 5 lakh hectares of land which is available for the industry have been identified. So all the worries about the availability of land are now unfounded. The Ministry said at a CII webinar that there is enough land available all over the country for different industries. He also said that the ministry is working to create industries specific clusters in different parts of the countries.

 Goyal also said that now due to COVID-19 pandemic most of the trade restrictions that the government has to spend temporarily are to ensure adequate supplies of medical equipment, medicines, pharma products, surgical mask, glouse, etc. He also said that very soon he plans to ease restrictions on ventilators also, all the restrictions that India has placed because of the COVID-19 pandemic are temporary and for a definite period. When we will become self-reliant we will remove and ease them. Guruprasad Mohapatra while speaking at the webinar in the Department for the Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade ( DPIIT) said that they are working on ways to reduce the compliance burden of industries. He also said that they will conduct a meeting next week on the issue and would see what kind of compliances are required before inception and to operate and maintain an industry.

Goyal while speaking at a webinar of industry chamber PHDCCI said that the government is working to further promote ease of doing business, declog process, and systems. The pandemic altered consumer behavior patterns and many of the people are shifting for online purchases. He said that he thinks retail trade will have to shift with new strategies and align themselves in this evolving consumer preference. Due to COVID-19, there was some slowdown in retail but we will once again see retail trade opening up quickly. As a case in a country like India, we will have global and technology-driven sales and we will have our corner stores the small grocery stores, and pop stores that serve as in our neighborhood both coexisting and converging to work as one.
