Chennai, November 13, 2025: The Rotary Club of Madras East (RCME), one of the premier Rotary clubs in Rotary International District 3234, proudly presented the Young Achievers Award 2025 at a ceremony held at Mandapam Hall, Welcomhotel by ITC Hotels, Cathedral Road, Chennai.
This year’s awards celebrated two remarkable young Indians whose determination and passion have inspired the nation:
Kaamya Karthikeyan, an extraordinary mountaineer and skier, recognized as the youngest female globally to complete the prestigious Seven Summits Challenge.
Puviatral Periyarselvan, a 12 year old open water swimmer from Chennai, known for her record setting feats across challenging seas and her unwavering spirit of endurance.
The event was graced by Mr. Anand Jacob Verghese, Chancellor, Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science, and Chairman, Hindustan Group of Institutions, as the Chief Guest, and AKS Rtn. Vinod Saraogi, District Governor, Rotary International District 3234, as the Guest of Honour.
Speaking on the occasion, Rtn. Balaji Sreenivasan, President of RCME, highlighted Rotary’s commitment to recognizing young talent that exemplifies courage, excellence, and societal contribution.
Rtn.Sudhan Muthupalaniappan Director Youth Service said their achievements reflect the perseverance and integrity that Rotary upholds. Rtn.Muthu Valliappan, Chairperson of the Young Achievers Award, added, These young stars remind us that age is no barrier to greatness.
The award, sponsored year on year by Rtn. Murugavel Selvan, celebrates young achievers who bring pride to the nation and serve as role models for the next generation. The event was attended by Rotarians, youth leaders, and well-wishers, followed by dinner.
