Mumbai, India: Shemaroo TV introduces a new programming format that blends mythology, tradition and the values that shape our celebrations. Instead of retelling familiar narratives, it shares lesser-known tales and explores the why and how behind India’s festivals, rituals, and celebrations, making Indian cultural knowledge more relevant to younger generations and sparking curiosity and conversations within families
With a legacy spanning decades across India’s entertainment value chain, Shemaroo Entertainment has played an integral role in bringing a mix of Indian stories and entertainment to audiences across platforms. Its strong association with devotional content, including its significant presence in the Bhakti space on YouTube and Shemaroo TV’s commitment to bring in timeless cultural values, life lessons and stories to generations of viewers through iconic mythological narratives such as B.R Chopra’s Mahabharat, Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayan & Shri Krishna.
Further strengthening its commitment to culturally rooted storytelling, Shemaroo TV presents Shemaroo Deepotsav – Har Utsav Ki Kahani, a four-part special exploring the stories behind some of India’s most widely celebrated festivals. Going beyond the how of celebrating to explore the why behind it, associated with Dhanteras, Diwali, Govardhan Puja and Bhai Dooj to explore the narratives and beliefs that give these celebrations their significance. The episodes cover the story of Bhagwan Dhanvantari and Yam Deepdaan on Dhanteras; the return of Shri Ram to Ayodhya and the significance of Lakshmi-Ganesh Puja on Diwali; Krishna’s lesson on faith over ego through Govardhan Puja; and the story of Yamraj and Yamuna associated with Bhai Dooj. Through these narratives, the series brings audiences closer to the stories behind traditions that have been part of Indian households for generations.
For this festive offering, Shemaroo TV has roped in Ragini Chaubey, popularly known for portraying Goddess Lakshmi in Devon Ke Dev Mahadev, as the anchor for the series. She sets out the context of each festival, narrates the related mythology and closes with a takeaway for families today.
Commenting on the initiative, Sandeep Gupta, COO – Broadcasting Business, Shemaroo Entertainment, said, “Audience viewing habits keep evolving, and we want to meet them with fresh takes on familiar genres. With this special presentation, we intend to present lesser-known narratives in mythology, making it more engaging for young viewers while preserving its deep-rooted cultural context. Shemaroo Deepotsav is a step in this direction, as we continue to evolve our content approach to connect with today’s generation while keeping our cultural heritage alive.”
Shemaroo Deepotsav – Har Utsav Ki Kahani airs on Shemaroo TV on 6, 8, 10 and 11 November 2026 at 9 PM. All four episodes will also be available on Shemaroo’s YouTube channel.
