Supriya Pathak Kapur Shines in Auntypreneur, ShemarooMe’s New Gujarati Premiere Celebrating Women Who Dare to Begin Again

Auntypreneur, ShemarooMe’s latest premiere, breaks the myth that ambition belongs only to the young. With a heartfelt story, relatable humour, and a message that resonates deeply with every generation, the film celebrates courage, community, and the unstoppable spirit of women who choose to start over.

Directed by Pratik Rajen Kothari and featuring the powerhouse performer Supriya Pathak Kapur in one of her most endearing roles, Auntypreneur follows the story of Jasuben Gangani, a 65-year-old homemaker living in a middle-class Mumbai society. When her building faces demolition due to financial distress, Jasuben refuses to give in to fate. Instead, she brings together a group of spirited “aunties” homemakers, caretakers, and silent dreamers to take charge of their destiny by venturing into the unpredictable world of entrepreneurship and stock trading.

What begins as an act of survival soon turns into a joyful journey of self-discovery and empowerment. With warmth, wit, and a touch of nostalgia, Auntypreneur shines a light on the lives of women who have spent years nurturing others, reminding us that it’s never too late to nurture your own dreams.

Supriya Pathak Kapur delivers a moving and memorable performance that beautifully captures the strength, humour, and heart of everyday women who hold families and communities together. Supported by a talented ensemble cast, Ojas Rawal, Brinda Trivedi, Margi Desai, Yukti Randeria, and more, the film gracefully balances laughter and life lessons a celebration of resilience and the power of starting afresh.

Speaking about Auntypreneur, Supriya Pathak Kapur shared, “Auntypreneur reminded me that courage doesn’t always roar, sometimes it quietly brews in the corners of ordinary lives. Playing Jasuben was like rediscovering a part of myself that believes it’s never too late to start something new. The story of these women, who take an unconventional path to overcome crisis and challenge every stereotype along the way, beautifully captures the true spirit of empowerment. I’m glad the film will have its digital premiere on ShemarooMe, where stories rooted in culture and simplicity reach every home. I hope viewers see a bit of their mothers, grandmothers, and even themselves in these women who turn life’s chaos into confidence and dreams into reality.”

Streaming on ShemarooMe, Auntypreneur gently redefines what entrepreneurship looks like at any age. It’s a reminder that age is just a number, and courage never retires. Stream this uplifting film that blends humour, emotion, and inspiration reminding us that every day is a chance to start anew.
