Malanpur: Surya Roshni Limited, one of India’s most trusted names in lighting, wires & cables, fans, home appliances, PVC pipes, water pumps, water tanks, and steel pipes, continues to reinforce its safety-first culture through a series of integrated initiatives at its Malanpur facility. Building on the momentum of its recently concluded Safety Month, the company further strengthened its commitment to workplace safety through the observance of National Fire Service Week—positioning safety as a continuous, evolving priority rather than a time-bound exercise.
With the onset of summer, manufacturing environments face heightened risks such as fire hazards, heat stress, and operational vulnerabilities. Recognising these seasonal challenges, Surya Roshni has adopted a proactive approach to preparedness—focusing on prevention, rapid response, and workforce readiness across all levels.
During Safety Month, the company rolled out comprehensive interventions including mock drills on fire and gas leak scenarios, safety audits, and structured training sessions covering electrical safety, emergency response, first aid, and permit-to-work systems. This was further strengthened through shop-floor engagement initiatives such as SOP awareness, hazard identification (HIRA), and department-specific safety briefings.
Extending these efforts, the National Fire Service Week served as a focused reinforcement of fire safety preparedness. The initiative featured detailed mock drills simulating Class-A fire scenarios, live demonstrations on the use of fire extinguishers, hydrant systems, and coordinated emergency response protocols involving internal teams and external stakeholders. The drills also tested end-to-end emergency readiness—from incident reporting and control room activation to medical response and fire tender deployment—ensuring seamless coordination during critical situations.
Additionally, employees participated in fire safety oath-taking and awareness sessions, further embedding a culture of accountability and vigilance. The engagement of safety experts and collaboration with external agencies added depth to the learning experience, enhancing practical knowledge on fire prevention, especially in handling gas and chemical-related risks.
Beyond operational safety, the company continues to emphasise behavioural and wellness aspects through initiatives focused on mental well-being, yoga, and fostering a responsible workplace environment. Governance mechanisms were also strengthened through Safety Committee reviews, compliance tracking, and participation in structured frameworks such as SHREE Portal-linked programs, including Shram Star Ratings and Aroh reporting.
Commenting on the initiative, Vasumitra Pandey, CEO – Lighting & Consumer Durables, Surya Roshni said,
“At Surya Roshni, safety is not just a compliance requirement, but a core value embedded in our operations and culture. Our approach is continuous and adaptive—especially in high-risk periods like summer—where preparedness and awareness become even more critical. Through sustained initiatives like Safety Month and Fire Service Week, we aim to upskill our workforce, strengthen response systems, and build a proactive safety mindset across all our facilities.”
Through these ongoing efforts, Surya Roshni Limited continues to drive a holistic safety culture—where awareness, preparedness, and employee empowerment come together to ensure resilient and responsible manufacturing operations.
