Tata Mumbai Marathon 2027 Opens Registrations

Respected Shri Jishnu Dev Varma, Hon'ble Governor of Maharashtra, became the first person to register for Asia’s most prestigious marathon scheduled for January 17, 2027

Mumbai, 31st July 2026: Procam International, pioneers of distance running in India, today announced the  opening of registrations for the 22nd edition of the Tata Mumbai Marathon, scheduled to take place on 17 January  2027. At the launch, Respected Shri Jishnu Dev Varma, Hon’ble Governor of Maharashtra, became the first  person to register for the Tata Mumbai Marathon 2027.  

Since its inception in 2004, the Tata Mumbai Marathon has evolved into one of the world’s largest participative  movements, inspiring millions through the transformative power of sport, health, inclusion and philanthropy. More  than a race, it celebrates Mumbai’s resilience, generosity and indomitable spirit, uniting people from across the  city, the country and the world. On race day, every stride, every cheer and every heartbeat belongs to Mumbai  #HarDilMumbai.  

As the first registrant for the Tata Mumbai Marathon 2027, Shri Jishnu Dev Varma, Hon’ble Governor of  Maharashtra, said, “I am very happy to know that a marathon that started as an event has today become a  movement. It is good to see people of all ages and all sections of society running shoulder to shoulder, each for  their own cause while contributing to the greater cause of the nation. The spirit of the marathon is always greater  than the numbers, and I am happy that the Tata Mumbai Marathon is reaching out beyond Mumbai through  philanthropy and compassion.” 

Speaking at the launch, Shri Ashish Shelar, Hon’ble Minister for Information Technology and Cultural  Affairs, Government of Maharashtra said, “Mumbai is known for its creativity, culture, contribution and  festivals. Over the years, the Tata Mumbai Marathon has added another beautiful dimension to the city’s  identity, making Mumbai synonymous with one of the world’s premier marathons. For me, the Tata Mumbai  Marathon is not only about sport, speed or scale; it is also about inspiring people to embrace fitness and an  active lifestyle. As registrations open for the landmark 22nd edition, I encourage people from across  Maharashtra and India to participate in this extraordinary celebration of endurance and community. The  marathon also provides a platform for individuals to contribute towards social responsibility while spreading the  important message of sustainability. The Government of Maharashtra is proud to support an event that has  grown into a global sporting benchmark, and I am confident the Tata Mumbai Marathon will continue to achieve  even greater heights in the years to come.”

A World Athletics Gold Label Race, the Tata Mumbai Marathon will offer a total prize purse of USD 389,524,  attracting the best athletes and amateur runners from across the globe. Registrations will commence today,  Friday, 31 July 2026, for both physical and virtual races at https://tatamumbaimarathon.procam.in/. The race will  be flagged off from the iconic Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus on Sunday, January 17, 2027.

Enhancing the Runner Experience 

  • Exclusive Race-Day Gratifications: Every Marathon participant will receive an exclusive ASICS race day T-shirt, courtesy of the event’s Sports Goods Partner, while Half Marathon participants will receive a  race-day T-shirt sponsored by Tata Sons. All finishers in the Marathon, Half Marathon and Open 10K will  be awarded a finisher medal and a downloadable timing certificate to commemorate their achievement.  
  • TMM Green Bib – An Agro Forest Initiative: Every runner can upgrade to a Green Bib for just ₹651,  helping to plant, maintain and sustain a tree for three years. Built on an Agri+Horti model, the initiative  supports farmers’ livelihoods while improving soil health, restoring biodiversity and reducing carbon  emissions in Solapur. 
  • Encouraging Women’s Participation: A limited number of running places have been reserved for women  in the Marathon and Half Marathon categories to encourage greater female participation, subject to the  prescribed timing criteria.  
  • Championing Inclusion: Continuing its commitment to making the event accessible to all, the Tata  Mumbai Marathon has reserved a limited number of entries in the Marathon and Half Marathon for Persons  with Disabilities (PwD). 
  • Special Registration Window: The Open 10K race category is exclusively reserved for Charity Bibs.  However, for the first time, a limited number of running places within the Open 10K Charity Bib category  will be available under the Women’s Criteria, Youth Age Criteria (15–21 years as on 16 January 2027),  and Silver Age Criteria 65 years and above as on 16 January 2027). Registration for these categories  will open on Tuesday, 11 August 2026, at 7:00 a.m. and close at 11:59 p.m. on the same day, or earlier  if all available running places are filled.
