Hyderabad, June 1st, 2026: Telangana basketball has earned national recognition as three young players from the state—Viha Reddy, Jonnalagadda Nethra B, and Saanvi K—played a pivotal role in helping India clinch the Gold Medal at the FIBA U18 Women’s Asia Cup SABA Qualifiers 2026 held in Sri Lanka.
The Indian team delivered a dominant and unbeaten performance throughout the tournament, culminating in a memorable victory over host nation Sri Lanka in the final to emerge champions and secure qualification for the next stage of the continental competition.
Adding further glory to the achievement, Viha Reddy captained the Indian team, leading from the front with maturity, confidence, and exceptional on-court performances. Her outstanding contribution throughout the tournament earned her the prestigious Most Valuable Player (MVP) award, making her one of the standout performers of the competition.
