New Delhi, 23rd March 2026: As Navratri brings with it a period of spiritual reflection and mindful living, food traditions during these nine days continue to highlight simplicity and nourishment. Rooted in sattvic practices, meals are prepared using fasting-friendly ingredients such as kuttu (buckwheat), singhara (water chestnut), and samak (barnyard millet) to align with both ritual significance and seasonal wellness. Marking the occasion, The Ashok has introduced a limited-period Navratri thali at its restaurant The Samavar (24 hour Coffee Shop).
The menu draws from traditional fasting recipes and presents a selection of dishes prepared using customary cooking techniques and mild, aromatic spices.
Available till 27th March, 2026, the thali features distinctive preparations such as Zafrani Samak Pulao, Khatta Meetha Sitafal, and Arbi ke Kofte in cinnamon-spiced gravy, alongside innovative offerings like Basil Beetroot & Sago Tikki, Khoya Stuffed Paneer Roll, and Kuttu & Sitafal Tarts. The spread also includes curated elements such as Makhana, nuts & vegetable mélange and Bhuna Shakarkandi & Anaar Chaat, reflecting the diversity of ingredients commonly used during the fasting period.
The seasonal menu is served between noon and 10 PM, offering diners an opportunity to experience a curated selection of Navratri dishes.
The items reflect the continued relevance of traditional food practices in contemporary dining spaces, where festive observances are increasingly being interpreted through curated culinary experiences.
