Hyderabad: 14th July, 2022: Premia Academy organized an awareness program on the ill effects of drug abuse and trafficking at their campus in Hyderabad at the first Voice of Wisdom event, an initiative taken by The Premia Academy to address pressing issues in education, parenting and child care. The event aimed at creating awareness about the physical and psychological effects of substance abuse, the drug-related humanitarian crisis and the steps to eradicate the menace. The program was organized in association with Dr. Kalyan Chakravarthy, a renowned Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist, and Ms. Bhargavi Reddy, a Mental Health advocate and conscious parenting coach. The event was organized to mark the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit trafficking which is recognized worldwide as a day to strengthen action and cooperation to achieve the goal of an international society free of drug abuse.

The International Day against Drugs Abuse and Illicit Trafficking is a United Nations initiative to raise awareness among the masses against drug abuse and the illegal drug trade.

The speakers emphasized that the drug epidemic is engulfing society, especially the youth, who represent the future of the nation.  It is our primary duty to educate the children about drugs and illicit trafficking and most importantly, their root causes, so that these social evils can be eradicated. The speakers also interacted with students to recognize the reason for addictions and how they can identify these at the right time.

Speaking on the occasion Psychiatrist Dr. Kalyan Chakravarthy said, “Addiction involves genetic factors, peer pressure, loneliness, and hopelessness, which are especially prevalent in teens. It is our duty to ensure that we impart the right education and create such avenues to educate children. I want to thank Premia Academy for providing this forum for a constructive dialogue with the students.”

Adding to this Ms. Bhargavi Reddy, a mental health advocate and conscious parenting coach, said, “Though drug abuse is a big menace, these addictions can be addressed effectively by channelizing the kid’s and adult’s energies, eating balanced food, and providing the right support. We have to ensure a conducive environment at home and ensure our kids are aware of the ill effects of drug abuse.”

According to Ms. Trupti Rao, Principal, Premia Academy, “We are delighted to organize the awareness program on ‘International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking’.   The event is focused on creating a dialogue about addiction and the humanitarian crises related to drugs. In the present day, kids face so many physiological and mental challenges and its imperative for educational institutes like Premia Academy to help the students understand the dark world surrounding drugs and trafficking.
