Dehradun, September 1, 2026: UPES’ strategic collaboration with Google Cloud reached a new milestone with the celebration of Google Gemini Day on campus and the rollout of 10,100 Gemini Enterprise for Education for students and faculty. The initiative is designed to deepen the integration of AI across learning, teaching, research, collaboration and innovation.
The event brought together representatives from Google India, its technology deployment partner ParadigmIT, and the UPES community. Among those present were Vaibhav Kumar Srivastava, India Head – EdTechs & Education, Google Cloud (India and SAARC); Aanchal Chopra, Google India; and Manoj Bhutani, Google India and Sridhar Gadhi, CEO and MD, ParadigmIT.
The program began with a welcome and interaction with the visiting delegation, followed by engagements with UPES leadership, students and faculty members. The discussions explored the growing role of generative AI in education and how access to enterprise-grade AI tools can enable students and educators to experiment, create and solve problems in new ways.
As part of Google Gemini Day, Vaibhav Kumar Srivastava conducted a specialised Google Gemini session for UPES students, which included an interaction and Q&A. The program also featured demonstrations and conversations aimed at helping students understand how Gemini Enterprise can be used effectively and responsibly across academic disciplines. A symbolic balloon release marked the official celebration of Google Gemini Day and the beginning of the next phase of UPES’ AI transformation journey.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Sunil Rai, Vice Chancellor, UPES, said, “Becoming an AI-First University is not simply about providing access to advanced technology; it is about embedding AI meaningfully into the way our students learn, our faculty teach and conduct research, and our academic community innovates. The rollout of Gemini Enterprise for Education at this scale allows our students and faculty to engage with powerful AI capabilities in their everyday academic environment. Our collaboration with Google Cloud is an important step towards developing graduates who are not only comfortable using emerging technologies, but have the confidence and capability to create with them responsibly.”
Vaibhav Kumar Srivastava, India Head – EdTechs & Education, Google Cloud (India and SAARC) said, “I would like to congratulate UPES on being one of the first digital campuses on Google Cloud. The university’s leadership has demonstrated the vision and acumen to understand what AI can do for students and the opportunities it can create for them. We see UPES playing an important role not only in building the workforce of the future, but also in nurturing future job creators. Today, with the launch of the largest Gemini campus in northern India, we are very excited to partner with UPES and take this journey forward.”
With access to Gemini Enterprise, students and faculty at UPES will be able to explore advanced AI capabilities, develop AI-powered solutions, experiment with intelligent academic and research tools, and build practical familiarity with technologies that are reshaping industries and workplaces globally.
The initiative reinforces the shared vision of UPES and Google Cloud to nurture AI-ready graduates who move beyond being users of technology to becoming creators, problem-solvers and innovators. Through access to advanced tools, industry engagement and experiential learning, UPES continues to strengthen an AI-enabled academic ecosystem designed to prepare its community for an increasingly AI-driven future.
