Visit of Romanian Deputy Minister and High-Level Delegation Strengthens India–Romania Strategic Engagement

The Embassy of Romania to the Republic of India successfully concluded the official visit of a high-level Romanian economic and academic delegation led by *Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mrs. Clara Alexandra Volintiru*, held from March 2nd to 9th, 2026. The delegation’s visit marked a significant milestone in strengthening bilateral dialogue and deepening cooperation between Romania and India across political, economic, academic, and strategic sectors.
The engagement was graciously hosted by *H.E. Sena Latif, Ambassador of Romania to the Republic of India*, at her official residence in New Delhi, where distinguished guests from diplomatic, business, academic, and cultural circles gathered to welcome the delegation. The occasion was further elevated by the presence of eminent personalities including *Akshay Bhati, CEO God Bless Films & Entertainment, Mohit Shrivastava, Baldev Raj, and Dr. Sanjanaa Jon, Founder of PACT H2OMovement*. Their participation reflected growing interest from diverse sectors—including culture, business, and creative industries—in strengthening India–Romania relations.
During her visit, Deputy Minister Volintiru represented Romania at the prestigious Raisina Dialogue, one of India’s leading multilateral conferences on geopolitics and geo-economics. She contributed to high-level panels and official discussions, including sessions on India–European Union relations, emphasizing interregional cooperation, sustainable economic growth, and resilience in an evolving global landscape.
The official delegation included representatives from Romania’s top academic institutions, such as the University of Bucharest, Bucharest University of Economic Studies, and Babeș-Bolyai University of Cluj-Napoca. They engaged with Indian higher education and research institutions to expand academic partnerships, strengthen joint research, and promote student and faculty mobility.
The economic component brought together Romanian companies from energy, metallurgy, IT, defence, agriculture, agri-tech, and digital sectors. Through business forums, seminars, and networking sessions, these companies explored opportunities for trade, investment, and technology exchange with Indian partners.
The visit, especially in the context of the anticipated EU–India Free Trade Agreement, reinforced Romania’s commitment as a dynamic European partner and laid the foundation for a forward-looking, resilient, and mutually beneficial India–Romania partnership.
