Vodafone Idea teams up with Nazara Technologies to launch Vi Games

Vodafone Idea, a leading Indian telecom service provider, recently announced the launch of Vi Games on the Vi App, a new gaming proposition in collaboration with Nazara Technologies, India-based diversified gaming, and sports media company. Vi customers will have access to a wide range of gaming content on its gaming platform – Vi Games – ergo of this deep-integrated partnership, including popular game titles from various franchises in India.

According to a FICCI-EY report, gaming is one of the most popular forms of entertainment in India, with 500 million users expected by 2022. It is the most popular choice for entertainment and relaxation among Indian consumers and is expected to gain a larger share of users’ time and money in the coming years.

According to a Deloitte and CII report titled Digital Reset: Touching a Billion Indians, the national average time spent on online gaming by Indian consumers is over 4 hours.

Vi Games on the Vi App aims to provide an immersive gaming experience with over 1200 android and HTML5-based mobile games spanning ten popular genres covering Action, Adventure, Arcade, Casual, Education, Fun, Puzzle, Racing, Sports, and Strategy.

Commenting on the same, Avneesh Khosla, chief marketing officer Vodafone Idea said, that they were looking at a significant increase in gaming consumption in India, with more than 95% of gaming aficionados using mobile devices to enjoy the content.. 

Vi Games’ offering will begin with casual gaming material and will evolve to include social gaming and possibly e-Sports.

Quoting the announcement Nitish Mittersain, founding father and Group Managing Director of Nazara Technologies stated, “Gaming is not only the future of entertainment in India but already a key mode of entertainment… Nazara is delighted to work with Vi to bring our entire portfolio of gaming content, e-sports, and interactive entertainment to their larger user base.” 

On the Vi App, gaming content is bifurcated into three categories: Platinum Games, Gold Games, and Free Games.

– The content catalog will primarily be focused on Gold Games. Vi users can access these games with a Gold Pass, which costs Rs. 50 for post-paid and Rs. 56 for prepaid users and is valid for 30 days.

Every month, post-paid subscribers with plans of Rs. 499 and more will receive 5 free gold games.

– The Platinum Games will be offered as a pay-per-download service via a Platinum Pass, which will cost Rs. 25 for postpaid and Rs. 26 for prepaid subscribers.

– Vi Games will offer 250+ free games to all Vi clients on the platform.
