Mumbai, June 03, 2026: Yatri, the official partner for Mumbai Local Trains under Indian Railways, are partnering to integrate real-time Mumbai local train updates on Google Maps and Where Is My Train. This integration allows millions of daily local train commuters to access real-time train data helping them eliminate travel uncertainty and better plan their daily commutes.
To ensure commuters receive trustworthy information, Yatri combines proprietary GPS systems with direct railway control room integrations. This delivers precise, source-verified updates on live train locations and ETAs, train delays, cancellations, or real-time schedule adjustments, and platform changes to prevent last-minute rushes. The rollout spans Mumbai’s entire suburban rail network, backed by a robust, deeply integrated real-time data infrastructure built by Yatri to handle the scale and complexity of one of the world’s busiest transit systems. This experience is now available on Google Maps and soon to be launched on the Where is My Train app.
“In a city where more than 8 million people rely on the local train network every day, even a minor delay can disrupt entire schedules. We have focused on building infrastructure that reflects the real-time state of the network with high accuracy. By bringing this intelligence to platforms like Google Maps and Where Is My Train, we are significantly scaling up real-time coverage so commuters can make faster, more confident decisions every day.” said Reeva Sakaria, Co-Founder of Yatri.
“Our goal has always been to make Google Maps the most helpful and reliable companion for everyday journeys in India by building tailored, India-first experiences and collaborating deeply with the local ecosystem. We’re thrilled to collaborate with Yatri to provide Mumbai’s commuter community an enhanced real-time tracking experience that brings greater predictability to their daily travel.” said Lalitha Ramani, GM – Google Maps, India.
Beyond automated tracking, the system leverages community-driven features for local trains, such as User Incident Reporting and Yatri Chat. These features add real-time, on-ground insights from fellow passengers, further strengthening the reliability and trustworthiness of the information.
