On December 9, 2023, a significant Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra (VBSY) camp unfolded in
Kalahasthinathapuram Gram Panchyat, Sembanarkoil Block, organized by Indian Overseas Bank, the Lead Bank for Mayiladuthurai District. The distinguished Chief Guest for the occasion was the Hon’ble Cabinet Minister of Ports, Shipping, Waterways, and Ayush, Government of India, Shri Sarbananda Sonowal. Notable figures, including Shri Sunil Paliwal, IAS, Chairman, Chennai Port Trust, Shri Harish Kumar, District Prabhari Officer, Shri R Rakesh, Chief Regional Manager, Indian Overseas Bank, Mr Muthusamy, Lead District Manager, Myladhuthurai District, and branch managers of IOB Mayiladuthurai dist, along with officials from member banks, KVK, IOCL, and the Post Office, actively participated in the VBSY program.

Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra (VBSY), a transformative initiative launched by the Hon’ble Prime Minister on November 15, 2023, continues to make strides towards community development and awareness. The VBSY, designed to reach every Gram Panchayat and Urban Local Body in the country, aims to achieve the saturation and coverage of government schemes, ensuring the last- mile delivery of flagship programs.

A remarkable turnout of 435 members of the public engaged in the event, taking a pledge for collective progress. The program witnessed the sanctioning of loans amounting to Rs. 2.12 Crores to 12 beneficiaries of Indian Overseas Bank, Bank of Baroda, and NABARD. Additionally, 53 applications were collected under Jansuraksha Schemes and Atal Pension Yojana, showcasing a strong community interest in securing their financial future.

The event also addressed essential services, with 10 entries for Aadhar updation conducted by Banks and Post Offices. A drone demonstration by MFL added a technological edge to the proceedings. Furthermore, Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. facilitated 13 new gas connections, contributing to improved energy accessibility in the region.

VBSY stands as a testament to the collaborative efforts of government bodies, financial institutions, and community members, working hand in hand to foster holistic development. This event in Kalahasthinathapuram Gram Panchyat exemplifies the commitment to the grassroots, making a tangible impact on the lives of individuals and the community at large.
