New Delhi/Hisar/Jajpur, June 9, 2026: Reinforcing its commitment towards environmental stewardship and community-driven sustainability, Jindal Stainless, India’s leading stainless steel manufacturer, organised a series of awareness, waste management, and green cover initiatives across its Hisar and Jajpur units to mark World Environment Day 2026. Aligned with this year’s global theme, ‘Inspired by Nature. For Climate. For our Future.’ and responding to the call of action, the initiatives focused on encouraging responsible environmental practices through greater employee and community participation.
As part of the observance, the company launched a plastic-free campaign in Hisar with the distribution of 10,000 reusable cotton bags to vegetable vendors across local marketplaces. The initiative, aimed at reducing dependence on single-use plastics and promoting sustainable alternatives in daily life, received encouraging participation from local vendors and residents. Jindal Stainless also organised a large-scale e-waste collection drive in collaboration with Central Pollution Control Board-authorised recycling partner Gauvins Green Management Pvt. Ltd., collecting nearly 900kg of electronic waste from plant premises and nearby residential areas for responsible disposal and recycling.

In Jajpur, Jindal Stainless conducted multiple awareness and activity sessions engaging employees, contractual workforce, surrounding communities, and students on subjects such as green cover enhancement, sustainable lifestyle practices, waste segregation, and reduction of plastic usage. A special session was also organised for women leaders from nearby communities at the Jindal Institute of Industrial Training, Danagadi, aimed at promoting environmental responsibility at the household and community level.
Commenting on the initiatives, Managing Director, Jindal Stainless, Mr Abhyuday Jindal, said, “Environmental responsibility cannot remain limited to the boundaries of our plants; we believe in making it a part of everyday behaviour. Through such initiatives, we are attempting to strengthen a shared sense of ownership towards sustainability by engaging employees, local communities, and future generations alike. Small actions, when adopted collectively, can create meaningful long-term impact.”
Plantation drives were carried out across both plant locations and adjoining areas, with about 1500 saplings planted in Jajpur, as part of the company’s ongoing efforts to strengthen green cover and promote ecological balance around its operational regions. Interactive activities and creative competitions around environmental themes were also organised for children to encourage environmental awareness from an early age.
Speaking on the efforts, Unit Head – Hisar, Jindal Stainless, Mr Vijay Bindlish, said, “The response from local vendors, employees, and residents to the plastic-free and e-waste initiatives has been encouraging. Sustainability becomes more effective when practical solutions are integrated into everyday life, and these programmes are aimed at building greater awareness and participation at the grassroots level.”
Speaking on the occasion, Unit Head – Jajpur, Jindal Stainless, Mr Deepak Agrawal, said, “Sustainability is most meaningful when it is collective. We are building that shift by engaging our people and communities to make environmental responsibility a shared, everyday practice. By including women and children as the change agents, we hope to set in motion a virtuous cycle of positive action for our planet.”
Jindal Stainless remains committed to its broader sustainability goals, aligned with global Net Zero 2050, and community engagement, focused on responsible manufacturing, environmental ownership, and long-term ecological impact.
