4th Federal Bank Kochi Marathon: Route Map Unveiled; Free Metro Travel for Participants

KOCHI: The route map for the fourth edition of the Federal Bank Kochi Marathon has been officially released. The event is scheduled for February 8, with the Full Marathon flagging off from Maharaja’s College Ground at 4:00 AM. This will be followed by the Half Marathon at 5:00 AM, the 10km Run at 6:00 AM, and the 3km Run at 7:00 AM. The route was jointly unveiled by Race Director and Olympian Anand Menezes, Cleosports Directors Sabari Nair and Byju Paul, Dr Shuhaib Khader Chief Operating Officer, at Aster Medcity.

The marathon will commence from Maharaja’s Ground and pass through MG Road, Thevara Junction, Old Thevara Road, Church Landing Road, Foreshore Road, Marine Drive, and Goshree Bridge. The course continues through Kalamukku Junction, the Vallarpadam ICT Highway, and the Kothad-Moolampilly Bridge before returning via Vallarpadam Junction, Goshree Bridge, Chathiath Road, Marine Drive, and Darbar Hall Road to conclude back at Maharaja’s College Ground.

To ensure participant safety, Dr Shuhaib Khader – Chief Operating Officer stated that extensive medical arrangements have been made, comprising over 100 healthcare professionals—including doctors, nurses, and paramedics. Ten medical points and five ambulances will be stationed at strategic locations along the route to provide immediate assistance if required.
In a major boost for the event, Kochi Metro has announced special services and free travel for participants on race day. Baiju Paul informed that special metro trains will begin operations at 3:00 AM on February 8. Four services will depart from Aluva at 3:00 AM, 4:30 AM, 5:00 AM, and 5:30 AM, while two services will run from Tripunithura at 3:00 AM and 5:00 AM. Runners can avail of free travel by presenting their official marathon bib; this benefit remains valid for return journeys until 11:00 AM.
